Greetings!  (That sounds so 'Star Trek' or 'renaissance faire', but it's as generic an intro as I could muster up.)

Thank you to X_The_Unknown for suggesting a place to call my own here in the new Zone.  I'm looking forward to contributing to the discussions here.

So, what is the focus of this area going to be?  Well, a little bit of everything.

It's a pretty well-established fact that I am a nudist (yes, that's me in my avatar) and enjoy participating in activities where one's wardrobe is the one one was given at birth -- and maybe some flip flops.  I have been visiting nude beaches for almost ten years and have been a member of a local nudist resort for more than four.  So, some of my thoughts will reflect on my experiences in these settings and nudism related issues in general.

I'm single.  I've been single all of my life.  While it was liberating right out of college, it has become frustrating and somewhat depressing lately.  So, some of my thoughts may mention recent attempts to change that status.

I used to work in television news.  I've been out of the business for almost 3 years, but I still sometimes yearn to return to that newsroom setting.  So, every now and then I may comment on how the media covers something or how I feel about a personality in the media.

I live in Washington.  Having been subjected to red-state mental midgets for the majority of my life it's nice to be in a more progressive atmosphere.  I previously lived in Florida, Kentucky, and Indiana -- so I still keep up to date on goings-on in those states and comment accordingly.

I enjoy traveling.  I recently spent a week in Las Vegas exploring some of the better and lesser known attractions.  Two years ago, I drove California 1 from start to finish.  I look for scenic routes when I'm driving somewhere so I can appreciate life off the beaten path.  So, you may hear about a trip out of town from time to time.

I am a registered Democrat.  I don't anticipate getting too political in this endeavor, but I wanted to show my cards so you know why I feel how I feel about certain issues facing us today.

I am agnostic.  I retired from Christianity almost 7 years ago.  As with politics, I don't expect to talk much about religion, but it may come up from time to time.

I appreciate vice.  Whether it be wagering on a horse race or accepting an invitation to a BDSM club, I have a natural curiousity about things that many people may find unsavory.  This appreciation does not extend to illegal drugs.  I have no use for those substances.  So, I may comment on a recent trip to the track or another illicit adventure.

Now, with that information on the table, I'll open the floor to questions.  Have at it.

The bulk of my experience was as a producer or assignment editor.  While I did have a short stint as a reporter, I found work behind the scenes much more appealing.

Interesting, my original major in college was journalism, but I discovered that I didn't enjoy writing, when I had to. I switched to Speech Broadcasting. I enjoyed the behind the scenes work as well and I preferred radio and audio production. I had an internship, which turned into a job at a local station, but decided to leave that behind and never went back. I have a love/hate relationship for media now. I support the right to do what they do, but get angry at the bias.  Welcome C91.

Well, my first love is always going to be radio.  My best professional experiences seem to revolve around the radio stations I've worked at (both for pay and as a volunteer).  I would love to find a job at a radio station, but I also like to eat.  With the trend toward media consolidation, more and more local radio stations are being programmed via satellite and that means fewer people are being hired in the industry.  And those who are working in it are barely scraping by (unless they are working in a large market or syndicated).  I ate a lot of bologna sandwiches and Kraft dinners while working my first post-college job in radio.  I'm not really keen on going back to those at 33 years old.

You might wanna think about changing your location in your intro, and that you go to the horse races now instead of the dog track.
Looks like I've come full circle.
