THEY were the ones who let the cat out of the bag....they could have kept quite and their show would still be on.....but THEY, exposed the whole thing on National TV....told the world exactly what happened.  They DID go to the police.  The police realized they didn't need to file charges.  The parents DID have counseling with the son AND the girls.  The girls never knew what happened, so they were not effected too much by it.  The boy has asked for forgiveness....expressed extreme sorrow.

He was 12 years old.

I think THIS is an example of the media making a story out of nothing..............but, like I have said several times now, the duggars put themselves in the limelight, so they gotta take the good with the bad.
I don't think they wanted anyone to know, otherwise they would have done something when their son was 12 and not when adult!  The counseling was not what anyone would call counseling but by someone they chose. Most people go with  qualified counselors who deal in sexual abuse in victims, not a preacher who would have no idea how to deal with this unless licensed to deal with that! Yeah,in there state the statute of limitations had ran out so of course the police couldn't file charges!

So, you know that a Pastor is not qualified in dealing with such things?  Of COURSE they didn't WANT everyone to know....and what parent would?  At least the first time any good parent would try to deal with it on there own.  Having a Pastor speak with him was probably and EXCELLENT way to go.  Spiritual folks take that serious.  As a Christian myself, I put a lot of stock into a wise Christian Elder.  They carry a lot of great wisdom on earthy issues.

So, tell me how does this compare to the skank Clinton, who CHEATED on his wife, while he was IN THE WHITE HOUSE?  With a 20 year old kid?

Does the magnitude of the same wrong depend on who does it?

Most pastors are not qualified to deal with sexual abuse nor licensed in that type of therapy. It takes someone with extensive degrees in social work to work with sexual abuse. By the way, any parent worth their salt would have an inkling that something was going on. I don't trust preachers, priests or whatever religious figures to deal with issues like this and most don't have the skills to handle that!  As a parent, you don't have to let everyone know but you need to do what is right, step up to the plate and do what is right! They didn't and thought that the attention they would get would save their show and embassment. I am glad to see it go away. The Quiver movement is part of a cult and one they are a part of!

They didn't have a Pastor counsel him ...

Jim Bob Duggar meets with the elders of his church to discuss what action they can take to prevent further abuse, according to the police report. He says the elders agree that Josh needs treatment.

Jim Bob Duggar tells police that Josh Duggar went through a Christian counseling program from March 17 to July 17, where he "did manual labor and had counseling," according to the 2006 police report. It's unclear whether the counseling program was with a certified counselor, and Jim Bob Duggar tells police he cannot recall the name of the facility, according to the report.

Most Christian counselors are not certified counselors and work basically with whatever church that one belongs too or wishes to go to. I never referred people to Christian counselors because most wanted to brain wash people into believing their beliefs or faith. I referred them to licensed social workers who specialized in the field they needed help in!

When I was a kid, my mom didn't want me to play with some kids in the neighborhood. She said they were strange people who went to the Methodist church where they "spoke in tongues."

She was right!

Do you have anything to back that up?  Is this part of being reckless?

According to the Duggars in their book....

You need to read about the Quiver movement and Duggar  is lying. They are a huge part of it! The Quiver movement is exactly that!

Wow, what? Hard to believe that Christian counselors would do that? I referred one person to a Christian counseling agency and the person referred said they attempted to brain wash them into believing and coming to their church! I quit sending them there because I felt a counselor shouldn't do that!

I have....I have a friend I work with who has NEVER heard of an quiver movement....they have eight kids....they did so, because of a strong faith in God.  Why is that hard for a secular person to believe?

I had five kids, I would have had more.  I LOVE being a Dad.  My wife LOVED being a Mother.....we stopped, because my wife's body was done.  she could not spit any more out.  It was also getting pretty expensive..... .

I never heard of any quiver movement until today.  They DO sound a tad radical....but, if they are paying for those kids and being good parents, whose business is it?
