You can do cornbread on top of the stove if you have a cast iron skillet with a lid. 

I've never tried that. That's a great idea me.

I've done it before and it works great.  You just get the skillet really hot and, of course grease it like you do when you put it in the oven, pour the batter in, put the lid on, and let it cook on low heat 'til its done.

I love White Castles.  The closet one to me is in Chicago. It's a 4 hour drive.

You would have to have a heckuva craving to drive 4 hours LOL     Chicago is a 3 1/2 hour drive for me, so I'm glad there's a white castle here in Anderson.

You're lucky to have one in your area. There's a radio station in the Quad Cities, that rents a plane every year, and they make a White Castle run. Listeners from the area call in, and order how ever many they want, they fly to Chicago and pick them up. Sometimes they have thousands of sandwhich orders. Yep, everybody loves White Castles. They sell them in the frozen food section at some stores, they're ok, but fresh is better.

I love White Castles too. I can't remember the last time I've seen a White Castle restaurant.

Have you guys seen the movie "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"? It's a stupid stupid movie, but one of those that you end up laughing at in spite of yourself.

Are there any Krystals out that way?   I know they are all over the south eastern states.  Same as White Castles, but with a different variety on the menu.  I used to sneak off and get a couple of Krystal burgers every chance I got when I lived in Jax Fl.  LOL....but if none out there....guess I'll stay in the eastern half of the country where I know I can get my little onion cheeseburger fix.

And I've not eaten anything since those White Castles....guess they filled me up good. LOL  (no comments from the peanut gallery!)
