If we would have closed off our boarder, I bet we wouldn't be having this conversation right now.... ;)

So it couldn't possibly be some dumb white trash idiot who doesn't get his kids vaccinated because he eschews science...must be some brown people causing it.  Tell us again how you're not racist?
Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

The truth is slow, but relentless. Over time it becomes irresistible.

Why do you assume it is white trash?  YOU are the one who is making this a racial thing........Maybe you need to look in the mirror first before you go spouting off.

For the record, I am in favor of vaccines, though I understand the strong concerns with many parents.

My children are now 48 and 46 they both has measles when they were less than a year old. I have no idea where they caught them, neither went to day care or were around other children (no older cousins, etc.), probably picked it up at the grocery or mall. They were too young to receive the MMR vaccination at the time. They were both pretty sick for over a week. I'm a big supporter of complete vaccination for children, and I will urge everyone to get their children vaccinated. My niece's son is autistic and she worried about getting him vaccinated, esp. the MMR. She read that the binder in the vaccine caused the autism. She did some research and found that the vaccine could be given as three separate vaccinations. It took some doing and cost them some money but the pediatrician wrote prescriptions for the separate vaccinations for her.

I don't think it is so much "white trash" (as Ex so easily brought race and economics into the issue) as better educated people who buy into it. The highest unvaccinated rates are generally in private schools will affluent and probably fairly well educated parents.

Ann, I applaud you for your attitude on vaccinations. But all connections to autism from vaccines has been disproved. Yes, I know there was once a study that showed a link, but that study was retracted.

As for "white trash" I think of that as an overall attitude and mental bearing of a person. In my mind, it has nothing to do with education or money.

Just as I think a "redneck"  can also be a Wall Street guy in a Brooks Brothers suit.  It's a state of mind.

Oh, for fuck sake...we're talking about a measles outbreak and he immediately starts blaming illegals with absolutely nothing to support that allusion.  What about that doesn't scream racist?

I merely re-instated as to why, we should abide by our laws and regulations we have regarding immigration.  To say this is NOT a possibility, that the measles could have been infected by an illegal immigrant.  That is why we should do background checks on all visitors.
You are the one who is calling someone white trash, because they disagree with the vaccination process.  That by definition is racist.

I know that the link between autism and the MMR vaccination have been disproved but my niece's son was a baby when the study came out and as I pointed out she did get her children vaccinated.

White trash and redneck can be a state of mind but are terms that are only directed at Caucasians, I have never heard a person of color or a biracial person called white trash or redneck.

I have a black co-worker who is positively a redneck.

No, they were just called N*****s.  That covered the entire socio-economic strata of blacks.

LOL! What a way to disguise your real point - that you apparently think 'white trash' and 'redneck' are 'racist' terms.  They ain't.

I see that when it came down to trying to back up their rhetoric and prove those are racist names, y'all tucked tail and ran.

It's easy for y'all to just toss BS out ain't it.

White trash may not be racist but it's definitely a derogetory term. If said about someone white by someone who is black it could be deemed as racist because of the intent of the remark. Also to be called a niggar is not neccarily racist but could stem from being niggardly, http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/niggardly

[nig-erd-lee]

    Synonyms
    Word Origin

adjective
1.
reluctant to give or spend; stingy; miserly.
2.
meanly or ungenerously small or scanty:
a niggardly tip to a waiter.
adverb
3.
in the manner of a niggard.
Origin
but in another context when aimed at someone by a white person then it is considered racist.

Of course it's a derogatory term, but it's not racist.  You're other line about 'niggardly' is simply ridiculous.  That has absolutely nothing to do with the racist term.

If you are being niggardly could you not be called a niggar, as in stingy tight ass?

For someone who caterwauls about the lack of common sense in society these days, you are certainly lacking in it yourself.

Go out to the store and call someone the "N" word and see what it gets you. . .
