Have been inside all day -- have been listening to news on the radio (I'm in my bedroom looking out the window). It's very windy here, but that's not the news: for several hours, they've been reporting that traffic heading south on I-95 (close) has been stopped or moving very slowly or stopped again because of ? brush fires which keep reappearing because of the wind. Now that is something I don't ever remember hearing.  :spooked: Traffic heading north is also affected.

Historically dry in some areas of the country, including the south-southeast.

I have family that have had to evacuate due to the wild fires that are growing in Kentucky. . .

Sounds like maybe it is dry in your area as well!  :spooked:

I'm hearing rumbles about a huge storm (snow) approaching the NE so perhaps that will cure it where you are?

It was 37 degrees (the high I think) with a wind chill of 28!  That's not November weather.     Oh, summer, where art thou?

Yes, it is dry here.  We haven't had any substantial rain for quite a while. Yesterday we had shirtsleeve weather, and today it's been very cold with unusually high winds but not a drop of rain. A little after dark I stepped outside and was surprised at how cold it was. And the wind was so strong I could barely stand up so hurried back in.

Well, here we are, after a winter of mild weather and little to no snow, after congratulating ourselves as we've looked at the cherry blossoms and their imitators, the Bradford Pear trees, in full bloom.  And here comes this forecast of a lot of snow heading our way, beginning later today and through the night?

No stats, but it seems to me that over the years I've lived here (a long time) our weather has been generally much less extreme  than most places around the country.  But. Last week this time the temperature was 91, we've had a lot of  wind and rain, a small tornado over the Potomac across from the Tidal Basin, and now the weather guessers say the temperature might get down to below freezing tonight.
