Yesterday afternoon on my commute home from indentured slavery, I spied a phalanx of emergency lights off on the horizon. Great, wonder what SWAT is doing now?

I thought the bypass may have been closed, but being a closet lookie Lou I proceeded. As I got closer, traffic backed up and began creeping along in the one lane that was open going southbound. And then I saw it. . . I knew the instant I saw that Honda 4 door sedan underneath the front wheels of that 3/4 ton 2500HD truck, that someone had to have been killed.

The rear seats were absolutely gone, beneath what used to be the rear compartment of the vehicle that was resting beneath the truck. The front bumper of that truck was at the back of the front seats in the cabin of the Honda itself. I silently hoped there were no children in that vehicle.

This morning I got my answer; the driver of the Honda was northbound and a southbound school bus on this 4 lane, undivided highway, stopped and turned on its emergency lights to unload children from the bus. The Honda stopped. . . the truck did not and plowed the Honda at a "high rate of speed" (posted speed limit is 55mph, but traffic routinely travels at speeds of 60-70mph along this stretch of the road .

Driving the Honda was a 49 year old Anderson resident, alone. He died as a result of severe head injuries, at Ball State Memorial Hospital shortly afterwards. The twenty-something driver of the truck was uninjured, and the investigation is still in process surrounding potential charges.

I believe the following pictures tell the story better than I could:

The headrest you see is the drivers, and it is bent forward at a severe angle. You can guess the rest.

A very distinct possibility.

I wouldn't take that bet, because I would say there is a 80% chance you are right.  It amazes me how many people I see on my way to work....TEXTING.

I have seen where a lot of states are also outlawing talking on the cell while driving. People get distracted and refuse to pay attention to the road.

A very distinct possibility.

I would say probability...I see them all of the time.
