(CNN) - At least one person was injured Monday after a person fired shots inside the Washington Navy Yard, the U.S. Navy said.

An official told CNN's Barbara Starr that "several" people sustained injuries, according to phoned-in reports from the building.

The incident occurred at 8:20 a.m. when several shots were fired inside the headquarters for Naval Sea Systems Command in southeast Washington, D.C. An "active shooter" remained inside the building, the Navy said.

The Navy first informed the public of the incident in a Twitter message.

Emergency personnel, the FBI, U.S. Capitol Police and local D.C. police responded to the shooting. Some people are being evacuated and others are sheltering in place.

The headquarters -- the workplace for about 3,000 people -- is the largest of the Navy's five system commands.

It has a fiscal year budget of nearly $30 billion,

"With a force of 60,000 civilian, military and contract support personnel, NAVSEA engineers, builds, buys and maintains the Navy's ships and submarines and their combat systems," the Navy said.

12 PEOPLE ARE DEAD in shooting at Washington Navy Yard at a building housing the Naval Sea Systems Command Headquarters; one gunman is dead as police hunt two other possible shooters.

I'm not so sure about those two other shooters.   I think it's going to turn out to be a single guy operation.

D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray said at least 13 people were killed in the Navy Yard  rampage as D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier revealed one shooter was killed at the  scene and authorities are looking for another man — after a third was cleared of  involvement in the attack.

I read where the sole perp in this case, was a reservist between 2007 and 2011 (USN). . . And the FBI is asking for information from the public on this guy? Really? WTF is up with that?

So according to the sharks in the media:

1. He was a worker for a sub-contractor and drove to the site, entering with his ID as he was allowed to work there.

http://www.expertsit.com/home/experts-home.php  <---His employer

2. He entered with an AR15, Glock, and a "rifle". (Here we go again. Legal firearms owners will pay for this one).

3. He was discharged from the USN in 2011 for "misconduct issues". (Not dishonorable discharge)

4. The misconduct issues included firing a weapon through the walls of an apartment of a neighbor he had an ongoing dispute with.

5. He had anger management issues. (You think?)

6. He had been sent recently to Tokyo Japan by his employer, and there was a pay issue/dispute between him and his employer.

7. He supposedly had some kind of connection to the Buddhist religion, because a friend the media tracked down in Ft Worth TX met him at a temple. (Religion. Now there's a surprise).

How does a guy with weapons violations and anger management issues, who was discharged from the USN for these issues, get security clearance to work as a sub contractor within a USN facility?  :spooked:
