I understand the concern.  I think we live in a time where our water simply MUST be treated before we drink.  Not just Indiana, but everywhere.
Is it mans fault?  Sure!
. . .
According to Purdue studies the fish consumption for fish caught in Madison County poses NO risk, with the exception of Carp (who the hell want's to eat a carp) and then they recommend only (1) One 8oz meal a week.

Again, the established and EPA approved water treatment methods being utilized throughout this country are NOT designed to remove the lions share of the contaminates contained in the waters of Indiana and most other places. And that would include the bottled water you purchase. While it MAY be a bit purer than what is coming out of your tap and into your toilet, it still can, and does, contain the contaminates that are present at the source it is drawn from.  So those who believe they are avoiding this issue by drinking only bottled water are in denial.

Hey, carp are baitfish for the predator species. They make babies and babies contain the same levels of contaminates as their parents do. Bigger fish eat the baby fish and then they too accumulate the contaminates within those baby fish. We eat the fish and guess what? Yep, WE start accumulating the contaminates.

You bath in the stuff, it leeches in through your pours.

It really isn't rocket science, but rather the law of nature; "you are what you eat". (And drink, and bathe in).

I personally know three people here in central Indiana that have been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer within the last 4 weeks. ALL of them are under 30 years of age. Admittedly this next part is pure speculation, but how is that possible unless this crap is ALREADY well established within the food chain?

Want to scare the hell out of yourself? Have someone come in and do an analysis of that stuff coming out of your tap. . . :spooked:

I'm sure I don't want to know what is in my water.  So, I just avoid consuming it as much as possible.  I make it as clean as I possibly can.

And that attitude right there is the very reason we're in trouble.

Do you just LOVE to argue?

I wish I didn't have to. But for some strange reason, I guess I really care about trying to provide a livable Earth for my grandchildren.

Because I said I won't "worry" about EVERY possible thing that MIGHT be wrong with our Earth?  I have a bad attitude?

F'off.

I think part of what Bo D is saying is that with enough people who "don't worry about every possible thing" coupled with people who flat out say nothing is wrong at all, and our planet is going to be in serious trouble.

No. Because you don't even want to know what's in your water. My county sends a quarterly report listing full results of everything that's in our water.

Go "F'off" yourself.

Well I figured my Gulligan guy would have told me if it was something BAD in it.  They tested it before my softner was installed.  I just didn't ASK, if anything horrible was in it.

With that said, I apologize on telling you to f'off.  I let my crappy mood get the best of me.

Locutus, JUST because some people believe that many of our scientist have been tainted by political agenda's (such as IPCC)....does NOT mean that I want our earth to be destroyed.  I recycle, I am energy conscience, I all about protecting our wildlife, I am all for better ways to make our earth better.  Just not ready to buy into the IPCC BS.

It's allowed from time to time. Been there ... done that.
