Maybe Ex will understand a little better how it feels when he puts down our kids and says such spiteful things toward/about them.  There may not be the extra thing of a blood connection there but the connection is still strong.

I don't think he'll care.  He's got thicker skin than you.

Nope, couldn't care less.  RC is, of course, alluding to gun control but he makes two very important errors in doing so.  The first is that he makes the assumption that I'm anti-gun which couldn't be further from the truth.  Secondly, he assumes that I believe it is appropriate for just anyone to have a dog like this, especially one with protection training and I do not.  It really isn't a valid comparison anyway because a gun owned by an inexperienced owner will probably lay in a drawer for years collecting dust and never cause the owner any harm.  A tough dog in the hands of an inexperience owner is going to get that person hurt; it's only a matter of time.

But my dogs don't cost anyone but me anything...ever; never have, never will.  To be clear, I don't mind my taxes being used to help pay for schools and infrastructure for children that I don't have because those things benefit society.  What I do mind is the mindless blathering about that spending by the very same people whose children incur those costs.  It's an important distinction and one that you should learn.

What you keep forgetting is that those same people are paying those same costs and some probably even paid for yours, I do believe you're quite a bit younger than I.  If I want to blather about what the money is spent on I have every right as you do you but to put it the way you do is uncalled for.  Got it?

No, they aren't.  They get exemptions for each of their children, for boing head of household and in some cases, for earned income credit.  Any way you slice it, people without children pay a higher effective tax rate than people with children while consuming fewer resources.  It is simple math and not a difficult concept to grasp.

I really can't speak to the structure of the funding mechanisms used back then nor could I reasonably be expected to have had any control over them.  I can say that at least part of the time I was growing up, we attended parochial schools so no, during those years, no public funding was used for our education.

QuoteIf I want to blather about what the money is spent on I have every right as you do...

You knowingly and willingly created the expense (science has known for quite some time what causes pregnancy) and were responsible for less of it than people with no children so no, I don't think you do have as much right to bitch about it.  The bigger point...the one you are clearly missing, is that I am not complaining about it at all...I am complaining about people complaining when the reality is that most of them contribute less than they receive in return.

Now, back to talking about great dogs...

Definitely 'cause you sure are missing my point on the other altogether.  At least we can mostly agree on dogs.

Probably not.
Ya, for the most part I think we can but I won't let that get around.  Wouldn't want to ruin a good dispute or start getting along just wouldn't be right.  Ya know?

I just did something I hate and ended a conversation with "ya know" what's that all about anyway?   >:(

Might be time to start thinking about cross-training my pup for explosives detection.

That could be a lucrative venture!

What kind of sick attitude is that! Wanting to make money off  something you should do for the greater good. If your dog can smell bombs you should give him up to dear leader. And never ask for money.

Why don't you donate your monthly check to the state of WV so they can dig out of the hole they are in?

I wasn't thinking along the lines of charging for any such service any more than I would if I was deploying a search and rescue dog.  Ultimately between the police, the military and DHS, there is no shortage of explosive detection dogs and it's standard protocol to sweep any areas where there will be large gatherings of people beforehand.  That will never prevent some asshat with a bomb in a fast food bag from walking into a crowd, dropping it into a trash can and walking away.
