I don't mind supporting the school system, but I would rather pay a larger sales tax than a property tax. I was making the point that everyone who rents or buys property helps support the school systems, it doesn't make you special.

And I was making the point that everyone without children who pays property taxes subsidizes the people who do have children.  I do not have a problem with doing so; I think it is good for society, ergo, I do not bitch about it.  It does, however, offend me when people whose children I subsidize in the various school systems bitch about how their money is being spent for these programs.  It isn't their money; it's mine and I'm ok with it...I think it's good!

A sales tax is a very regressive tax.  It affects the lower economic strata at a disproportionate amount as compared to the higher economic strata - in other words it favors the 'rich', which isn't you.

That tax idea, like the 'flat tax' bull crap, is nothing more than manipulation by the 'rich' to further benefit themselves - as if they haven't rigged the game in their favor in practically every way possible.

Now exactly how would a flat tax benefit the rich?  They buy more expensive things and would, therefore, pay more taxes than the middle class and below.  It would generate more income in the long run.
