There are some other depths I plan to plumb to start my weekend!
Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

The truth is slow, but relentless. Over time it becomes irresistible.

I don't agree with the things in the first post, except maybe number 8. That being said, don't all voucher systems direct students to private schools and aren't 90 percent or more religious? I noticed almost all of the excerpts were from Bob Jones University which is a VERY strict sect. Do all the schools in that state use these particular books? I guess what I am getting at is that I think most people who use vouchers do so because they want their children to get a better education than they are getting in the public school system. If they are that concerned with their children's education they would investigate what the curriculum would be and if they didn't agree with it would not send their children to that particular school.

It's a demonstrable fact that the public education system in Louisiana isn't the best, but do you really think that this is a good solution?  They're teaching the children lies.

How can any adult, who has a smidgen of marbles rolling around in their head, come to any conclusion remotely like one that would state that this is somehow a better education than what's offered publicly?

Teaching children this kind of crap enables future generations of idiots.  It makes me very fearful for the future.

You can see how many "Slow" and Stupid people there can be when you count the churches in a state.  And believe me, cause I been there, just count the churches in Louisiana.   :preach:  :pope:

No, I don't think teaching kids 'lies' is a good thing. Are all the voucher schools in Louisiana teaching from this set of books? If they aren't, do you do away with the vouchers and hope for the public schools to do better? I just think that you need to balance it out. Which would you choose, sending your child to a religious private school where he/she would get a solid background in basics and you could 'edit' the religious stuff with home environment or to a public school where they might not even get the basics? My grandchildren went to a private Catholic grade school one year (they aren[t Catholic) and they pretty much used the same school books the public school did. It all still comes back to personal responsibility for yourself and your children.

No, it comes back to accountability for the quality and accuracy of the things our tax dollars pay for.

Which comes down to if the public schools were better people wouldn't be getting the vouchers in the first place.  Unions be damned teachers that aren't producing should be fired and then maybe our public schools would get better  Louisiana just happens to be unlucky enough that neither is any good for the most part so tax dollars are being wasted on both private and public schools in that state from the sound of it.

Indiana isn't much better.

What do you think would make it better? More money, less money, nicer buildings, more teachers, higher education standards for teachers (all have masters degrees), more rules, less rules? Seems like most things have been tried and nothing seems to be working.
