Surprised no one jumped the gun here, but it has been widely misrepresented throughout the media that Tom Petty has crossed over. The facts are:

Tom Petty was discovered in his home Sunday evening in full cardiac arrest.

He was rushed to a local hospital and has been admitted.

No further information from any reliable source has been officially released except for a statement by his daughter stating that he is NOT dead.

I have heard a whole lot more but will refrain from repeating it.

I, like the legions of fans throughout the world, await an official announcement from his family surrounding what has happened. (Biological and chosen family)

My thoughts are with all . . .

My hopes surround not having him posted within this topic anytime soon. 😪

Damn. I waited all day to post the above because I didn't have access. . But now it is confirmed and it kills me to post this but:

Tom Petty  :reap: HARVESTED :reap: @ 66.  (Heart Attack)

:'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Rocker Tom Petty died Monday after being rushed to a Los Angeles hospital, according to Tony Dimitriades, longtime manager of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Dimitriades confirmed Petty's death on behalf of the performer's family.

He was 66.
The singer was found unconscious in his Malibu home on Sunday night, authorities said.
Petty was transported to UCLA Santa Monica Hospital where he was reportedly placed on life support.
With his nasally voice and chiming guitar, Petty and his longtime band, the Heartbreakers, churned out an instantly recognizable brand of sturdy, heartland rock that made them a classic-radio staple for decades. Petty, along with the band, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. . .

In 1957 a friend of mine bought a new Ford hardtop.  He had it customized.  Frenched headlights, 1954 Chevy grill, Edsel taillights, Turnpike Cruiser skirts, twin spot lights, lowered, with Douglas steel pack dual mufflers and painted Desert Purple. This car was a real beauty.  He called Blue Berry Hill, Blue Berry for short.

Sad how some of these once iconic individuals just fade away into relative obscurity until they finally cross over. I am betting most of them die surrounded by the leeches existing on the fruits of their art. 😩😩

I'm sure that's true in a lot of cases.

Probably true, but no one who lives to an old age can be expected to work hard to the day he or she dies.  All of us needs a little rest and peace before the big and final sleep.

Funny thing is the way I have felt about death (mine) since I was a teenager and realized that I could not imagine a time (before I was born or since) when I (my soul or spirit) did not/would not exist. Maybe that's because I read too much Deepak Chopra ... oh, heck, I didn't discover him until years later, 1995 to be specific, when I was in Barnes & Noble and saw a book, Ageless Body, Timeless Mind, The Quantum Alternative To Growing Old, by Deepak Chopra, M. D.

It was not only the part about growing old that intrigued me, it was the word "quantum," as in quantum physics (science).

In my opinion Deepak Chopra is a Quack.  He doesn't know more about death than anyone else.  I think when a person dies, he dies.  He is put in the ground or a vase and there they will stay until the Universe goes dark for ever and ever.  For everything dies, even matter and atoms and the Universe will die at some time in the future.  Let us pray.  LOL.
