Do you think maybe she had a massive heart attack and they are listing it as heart failure? I know my father has congestive heart failure and my late father in law died of heart failure. It is a slow progressive disease.

Don't know.  Maybe she had some sudden cardiac event that was brought on by the heart failure.  Like I said, I'm no medical person in any way.

Congestive heart failure is the most likely culprit I am thinking. My mother had it and it was the underlying cause of her death. Not a whole lot they can do about it either, other than keep the patient comfortable and some additional therapies to prolong life. . . Even then there is some portion of voodoo involved with it. 

When you get into your 70's and above they're not real enthusiastic about cracking your chest and rooting around in there to see if they can strengthen your pump. 

With diastolic type the heart cannot fill because the walls in the chambers are hardened and thickened, and with systolic type the heart cannot pump because the chamber walls are thin and weakened. (As I recall. Mom had extensive heart work done in her life so anything I know is a byproduct of those events). Both are progressive and slowly kill you compared to a massive cardiac event. Basically it smothers you. (Blood=Oxygen and restricted flow = lack of oxygen to your brain and other organs).

A bitter harvest to say the least.

Makes one wonder what changes it will bring about in Cuba as a nation. His brother has been steering the ship for quite some time now, and at least we can go to Cuba and trade with them now.

I've always speculated that the island would become our 51st state, but with the economy the way it is I am not sure we could afford to take them on now.

I am not either. But I think you are right about the cardiac event.

I had a close friend who was in her 30's who had chf. She seemed to be doing well,out and about, going to her kids sporting event. She went to bed one night and never woke up.
