Really?  :roll eyes:  The VP is this fuckin' stupid?

The announcement came hours after Maduro met with the country's top political and military leaders about Chavez's worsening health condition and suggested someone may have deliberately infected Chavez with cancer.

When I first saw his performance of this at Woodstock, it literally made me break out in chill bumps.

I was there for the original of Ten Years Later at Woodstock.

No one could believe he was doing that on his own -- we thought there was some kind of electronic trick to it.

'Course, no one believed anyone could pick with his/her teeth, either. Ah, Jimi.

:rotfl:

A school participating in Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal's controversial voucher program is apparently using a history book that teaches its eighth-grade students that "hippies" were dirty followers of Satan-worshipping rock musicians.

The textbook, "America: Land I Love," includes a section on the counterculture movement of the 1960s.

Here's a paragraph taken from that section, which was published Wednesday by AmericaBlog.com:

Many young people turned to drugs and immoral lifestyles; these youth became known as hippies. They went without bathing, wore dirty, ragged, unconventional clothing, and deliberately broke all codes of politeness or manners. Rock music played an important part in the hippie movement and had great influence over the hippies. Many of the rock musicians they followed belonged to Eastern religious cults or practiced Satan worship.

Not that I have anything against "hippies", but is there anything that is NOT correct in that statement?  Most if not ALL of it is true....except for the Satan worship...I would say it is a pretty accurate description.  He IS entitled to his opinion, true?

The difference is in this book it is portrayed as a bad thing and in other history books it is portrayed as a good thing. I guess the school boards get to pick which way they remembered it.

The problem is, it's not his opinion that he's expressing.  That crap is in textbooks in schools funded by taxpayer money in Louisiana from Jindal's voucher program.  I doubt that's even his opinion anyway.

I WAS a hippie and I still am in many ways. I am not only offended by that ignorant description but I am offended that you agree with it.

Many young people turned to drugs and immoral  lifestyles; these youth became known as hippies.

Many people, not just hippies, have turned to drugs for many reasons.  In my experience, the drugs of choice for the great majority of hippies was weed. And that's legal in many places now.

Immoral lifestyles? In whose opinion? What about those hard-drinkin', cheat on your wife, beat up a queer, "I was drunk the day my momma got out of jail" country music rednecks?  Is that a moral lifestyle?

ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE

Rock music played an important part in the hippie movement and had great influence over the hippies.

True. So what?

Many of the rock musicians they followed belonged to Eastern religious cults or practiced Satan worship.

I get so tired of hearing that. Can anyone name a rock star that worshiped Satan?

So be offended.  I wasn't aiming at anyone.  Like I said, many of it IS true.  It is NOT an ignorant description. Many DID go without bathing.  Many DID use drugs.  My brother was a hippie. I was probably only a year or two from becoming a hippie.
btw, I already mentioned the satan worship as being BS.

it is NOT an ignorant description....it IS a reasonable one.  Many were....

MOST WEREN'T!!!

This is just the most blatant bullshit I have ever heard.

BTW, any chance your brother was not a hippie, but just a dirty bum? What really makes a hippie a hippie? It has nothing to do with appearances or drugs. It is a state of mind, one of peace, understanding and tolerance - something you conservative cranks have comprehension of.

Hey ... ask PH and Mr. 442 if bikers had a similar image in the 50's and 60's .

And aren't many conservatives redneck racists? Does that make you one too?

This is pure bullshit and you know it, Hank.
