So you guys are in favor of police passing out tickets to anyone who cusses in public?

Nope!!!!!  When are the nuts going to stop trying to destroy our Constitution.  Know some and reading about cops, they can put enough heat on these teenagers without breaking our Constitution.  All teenagers spit,  litter, all teenagers don't have any money and put curfews on them, use the laws on the books and burn their ass.

Don't hurt the many for a few fools.     :salute:

What if I don't like the way someone dresses or it offends me to look at fat people; should we legislate that, too?
NO. Read what Anne wrote.

I agree with Olias and Libby on this one. I never heard my dad say a cuss word and he was in the Navy for almost 20 years. My father-in-law, on the other hand, couldn't string three words together without two of them being profanity. Took me a long time to get used to that. I think if you are in a private situation, go to it, but in a public situation it is only common courtesy to watch what you say in general conversation. My son was in the Navy for 8 years and curses all the time, except around me because he knows I don't approve.

So, the three of you agree that it is a good idea for the police to issue tickets to people who use profane language?  THAT is what this post is all about.

I am curious to know if you really believe that is the right thing to do?

How about NY City, outlawing "Large" sugary drinks?  Is that something we should sit back and allow?

There is one thing that will never change is someone trying to change some one else's morals or business.  But this law is to try to stop kids from cussing is a case of fulititly.  Just make the cops more hated, more cop power and we have to much of that now.

There is some many thing on the books to keep the kids on the straight and narrow and remove them from these areas that is causing problems for the business area.

Just put a TV camera in plain sight and start the tape running, it sure slowed the problems on school buses.  Then anything, spitting on the sidewalk, fighting of any kind.  littering, being a vagrant, without any visual support, laundering, blocking assess to a business.   Just the visual the the pictures shown to parents should make is so unpleasant the kid will find something else to harass the adult population, just like we did when we were young.

Sure these cameras would cost a little money, not an arm and a leg.  But after the kids are gone the camera will provide safety for the street for years.     Business has had cameras in their businesses for years.  Just move a couple of camera outside with sound.  Another tax on morals?  It won't work.

Cursing in public is certainly bad taste, but it shouldn't be illegal.

Smacks too much of puritanism.

Let's just put 'em in the stocks and throw rotten veggies at 'em.

No. But that doesn't change my attitude about excessive profanity in public.

No.

Let's take this a step further. After all, where do we draw the line?

Why is public sex illegal? If you're on the beach with your family and then a couple comes up next to you, spreads out their blanket, and then proceed to the porking, what's wrong with that?

btw, I am not a fan of profanity in public either...I am not advocating it....just think we should not be passing out tickets to those who do.

Well ... I am advocating sex in public. It sure would be a hell of a lot cheaper than having to get a room.

I'm not sure if I could "work" in that kind of pressure, with an audience....   It WOULD put a twist on going to the beach...

It isn't work to me.

And the beach is no place for it.
