What if I played that clip Locutus posted at the office without earphones? Would my boss understand my constitutional right to free speech? I guess I would be free to look for a job elsewhere.

That's why I put that big bold warning on there.  ;D

Don't get me wrong. I really like George Carlin. Always have. But I know in advance what I'm gonna get when I listen to him.

Oh that video I posted wasn't Carlin.  It was a 2-minute demonstration on the versatility of the word fuck.  Listen to it later when you're home.  It really is funny.

You would be out, because corporations do NOT have to respect your constitutional rights and are free to trample them at will; legally.

As I've written here before, fools step in ... but here I go. On this one I totally agree with Olias. Some of my very favorite people cuss, but they don't inflict it on everyone. My favorite boss, who became my mentor and good friend, was a Navy Commander in Vietnam who ended up at the Pentagon. I spent more time with him than I did with my own family, and it was probably 5 years before I ever heard a cuss word come out of his mouth, and that was by accident: ours was a large office with military and civilians, and one day I walked by while he was standing with a group of Navy guys in animated conversation. And the words I heard come out of his mouth ...  ... he didn't know I saw him and heard what he was saying, and I never hinted that I knew. And yes, the F word was one of them.

So he cussed like a sailor?

And apparently inflicted it on everyone as well...at least once.

Yes.  ;D  They were a very interesting group. Another time they were discussing something that, to an observer, looked like all business. But when I got closer -- they were talking about their favorite Seinfeld episodes.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

I agree with Olias and Libby on this one. I never heard my dad say a cuss word and he was in the Navy for almost 20 years. My father-in-law, on the other hand, couldn't string three words together without two of them being profanity. Took me a long time to get used to that. I think if you are in a private situation, go to it, but in a public situation it is only common courtesy to watch what you say in general conversation. My son was in the Navy for 8 years and curses all the time, except around me because he knows I don't approve.

So you guys are in favor of police passing out tickets to anyone who cusses in public?

What if I don't like the way someone dresses or it offends me to look at fat people; should we legislate that, too?

Sure. We could use fewer fat people anyway.
