LAPEL, Ind. — Police believe the man who shot and killed a person at a rural Madison County home early this morning may have been suicidal when he left the scene.

Authorities say one person is dead and another was hospitalized after the suspect, Roy Parmley, 53, went to the home of his ex-girlfiend and fired shots about 2:30 a.m. Parmley then fled the scene and police have used a helicopter, canine units, bloodhounds and officers on foot to search for him in wooded areas nearby. Part of Indiana 32 between Madison County Roads 600 West and 750 West has been shut down. . .

Late Saturday afternoon, authorities were seeking Roy Parmley, 53, who allegedly went to the home of his ex-girlfriend's daughter — off of County Road 650 West north of 100 North. He tied both women up and then shot and killed the woman's adult daughter in front of her, Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson said.

The Madison County Coroner identified the victim who was killed as Amanda Wiles, 31. She lived at the residence. Coroner Ned Dunnichay said the woman died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Richardson said the woman's mother Terri Wiles, 53, had been staying at the Lapel area home after breaking things off with Parmley.

After the shooting, he left the home, although it is unclear if he left in a vehicle or on foot. All of the vehicles tied to him have been accounted for.

Perhaps that will be so, but somehow I find it hard to believe that the type of individual that would tie two women up before shooting one of them, could summon the courage and conviction to turn the weapon on himself.

This guy reminds me of the one that was mad at his ex wife because she got custody of their daughter so when he had her for the weekend took her up in a plane and then crashed it on purpose killing the little girl so the ex wife couldn't have her at all. At least this guy had the good sense to kill himself, too.  :mad:
