Happy Easter Sandy!

Well, its still drizzling out. . . I may have to mow in the rain cause its supposed to REALLY rain the rest of the week here, and if I let it go much longer tigers will be taking up residence in my yard!

I've pretty much given up on finding one of those drum aerators to pull behind the tractor. Cannot find them anywhere around here. . . SOOOOOOOO, Tractor Supply sells a set of spikes that go onto the rear tires, (like snow chains), and I am thinking I may have to spring for a set of those things instead.

Chemical warfare on the weeds is NOT working, and the dandelions are taking over. It is time to get serious and I have two choices; get the spikes and a pull behind spreader to seed the heck out of the lawn and choke them out with grass, or pay some blasted professional company to come out a spray chemicals onto my lawn every danged month. . . Right now, I am leaning toward the former. . .

The spikes cost $189 bucks plus shipping, (can only get them on line), and they've been endorsed and featured by Popular Mechanics and some other associations. Spreader will cost about a hundred, and seeding will probably cost me about another hundred or so for the season. (Plus fertilizer). So in round numbers about 500 bucks to do it myself. (Plus my time).

The chemical guys will probably end up costing me more than that over the season. . .
Now you could go out and dig up the dandelions and eat the greens and the flowers too.  The greens are excellent if ya fix them right and the flowers aren't bad either.

You know, I never told my children that. I did tell them that I'd prefer that they not do it before school or going somewhere, but I figure the only time that someone can enjoy a good mud puddle is when they're young. When you get older, they look at you like you're crazy! Not that I would know. ;D

My grandson (5 y.o.) was at our house for Easter dinner on Saturday (His mother had to work Easter Sunday, so my wife had dinner for our family on Saturday.)

A large 3-4" deep puddle had formed in our back yard due to all the rain we've had lately. The day was warm (got up to 72 degrees) and one thing led to another.

Since the puddle was about 10' long and 5' wide, there was plenty of room for all who had the notion.

Later, we were all searching for clothes that came within screaming distance of fitting us while our duds were being washed and dried.

We were also looking at some of the video of all of us making idiots of ourselves running and diving into this huge puddle.

I'm sure this will be archived and brought out at strategic moments in conversations in years to come.

I certainly enjoyed it.  ;D

I love it!!! :smitten:

I'm sure that will make for a story or two, but that lil' fella is going to carry that memory with him the rest of his life. :smitten:

I've never understood the hype about mud. That's what they make soap for. ;D

Last summer, we had a cookout and a friend brought his 4 wheeler. He took my daughter, lil' miss fancy pants who can't go outside w/out make-up and hair gel, for a ride. When they came back, the looked like a moving mudslide. I was welling up, unsure of how she was going to react, so I wasn't sure how to act myself. He caught my hesitation and said, she asked for it mama. ;D I was SO proud! Just the fact that she let herself go and enjoyed the moment. Apparently she insisted they go through the deepest puddle. So, out came the hose, to wash everything and those two off and a puddle was created in a dip in the yard. Another friend's little boy, 3ish, found it and ran straight up and did a butt flop/cannon ball. He got everyone around him and came up looking like swamp thing giggling his butt off.

A good time was had by all.

Any "healthful" benefits that "Might" be derived from the act of eating weeds, is overcome by including the "jowls" thingy. . .

Can you say heart attack?

I will eat weeds when that is all I can afford. Until then, I'll pass. . .
