The Troll

My cousin's son died from an overdose yesterday. I feel so bad for her.

And I can see why you feel bad for her, just thank you lucky stars that it wasn't your family.  In watching Dr. Phil these family really suffer when this happens.  Bad illegal drugs and depression take a lot of young people.  Really nothing a person can do but watch their kids lives go down the drain with drugs.  Depression can be worked with it if you can catch it soon enough.

With my dads family we didn't have that kind of bad luck.  For me it was and might I add "ONCE" was alcohol, and tobacco.  With my sisters who did neither, it was bad and lazy men.  One was married twice and the other married three times.  The boy in the family who drove fast, chased women, drank and smoked.  Well, he's been married "ONCE" for 48 years.  Go to prove even a blind squirrel can find a nut under an oak tree.    Be happy Anne.

Thank you. He had a long history of alchol and drug abuse so it wasn't surprising that it happened but still a shock. He was 37. My cousin lost her other son in an auto accident about 12 years ago. It wasn't his fault, someone crossed the center line and hit him. She only has one child left now.

It's always hard to lose someone, especially when it was preventable (by the individual). My condolences.

Thank you, Sandy. He was really a smart kid before he got into the alchol and drugs. Such a waste.

Has anyone seen the Walmart commercial where the dad buys the camping supplies and boat horn? He's trying to wake the boys up and hits the horn and the tent jumps straight in the air. ;D

Fan of Walmart or not, that's a funny commercial and idea for my next camping trip. :icon_twisted:

That is one of the funnies commericals I have seen for awhile. The other Walmart one where the dad buys, Pam. butter, crisco and a saw is funny too. Reminds me of when my 2 year old stuck his head through the spindles of the bannister!

For a few years, the boat horn was my preferred method of waking the crew when we were on our fishing trips north!  Nothing like a boat horn at 0400 to inflict pain due to consuming adult beverages until 0100 and passing out!  :icon_twisted:

They'd get up griping at me, but hey, they got up!

So, I'm stuffing Easter eggs with little treats and the cat came over and laid on them. Do you think she thinks she's a chicken?

Happy Easter Sandy!

Well, its still drizzling out. . . I may have to mow in the rain cause its supposed to REALLY rain the rest of the week here, and if I let it go much longer tigers will be taking up residence in my yard!

I've pretty much given up on finding one of those drum aerators to pull behind the tractor. Cannot find them anywhere around here. . . SOOOOOOOO, Tractor Supply sells a set of spikes that go onto the rear tires, (like snow chains), and I am thinking I may have to spring for a set of those things instead.

Chemical warfare on the weeds is NOT working, and the dandelions are taking over. It is time to get serious and I have two choices; get the spikes and a pull behind spreader to seed the heck out of the lawn and choke them out with grass, or pay some blasted professional company to come out a spray chemicals onto my lawn every danged month. . . Right now, I am leaning toward the former. . .

The spikes cost $189 bucks plus shipping, (can only get them on line), and they've been endorsed and featured by Popular Mechanics and some other associations. Spreader will cost about a hundred, and seeding will probably cost me about another hundred or so for the season. (Plus fertilizer). So in round numbers about 500 bucks to do it myself. (Plus my time).

The chemical guys will probably end up costing me more than that over the season. . .
