Your mind may but your body is gonna have other thoughts about that...trust me.

I was trying the power of positive thinking. ;D

My body is already letting me down. I did some back exercises on Sunday and my back has been stiff ever since. The first day, it was in knots, like I slept on baseballs. Now it's a dull pain like you get when you sit in a bad position too long. The difference is that a good stretch usually releaves that, but not this. I've taken more Advil this week than I have in the past two years. Heat helps, while I have the heat on it. I even had to miss my run today, hoping to give it time to reeturn to normal. I'm giving it a couple more days and if it's not better then I'm heading to the Doc.

Some of those back strengthening exercises can do more harm than good, especially the twisting ones.

Yeah, I think that might have been the case w/these. I spent a couple nights w/the heating pad and I'm much better today. I won't be doing that again. ;D

That's the same reason that I hate Denise Austin. ;D Years and years ago, when I was still a spring chicken, I was working out to one of her exercise tapes (despite the fact I find her annoying in general) and threw my neck out. :spooked: OMG! That was the most excruciating pain ever. I couldn't turn my head or even rest comfortably. I ended up getting one of those heating patches that active once the air hits them and after a couple days, the swelling went down and I could move again.

I'm boycotting her perky behind now!

I know what you mean.  I can't do any because of a back problem I have even though it would help if I could.  I have a deformed vertebra, one side is not all there, and if I try to do the exercises it puts me out.  I used to go to an Osteopath and he told me not to do them anymore...LOL  He has passed away unfortunately and I go to a Chiropractor since there are no Osteopath's around here.  I could have an operation but they don't always work so I just deal with it.

I feel bad for whining now. Wow, that sounds painful. Don't blame you about the surgery. I wouldn't let them touch my back either if the couldn't promise it would fix it. Then again, I'd be afraid that it would get worse.

My cousin did have an operation and, although it helped, she still has problems so I decided against it.  She had the same problem just a different vertebra.

We have one or two that have learned to mimic Jack Russell Terriers. I have a Remington 870 Express for them. . .  :icon_twisted:

Yep! Pheasant throughout the midwest fear it!

In fact, I've known quite a few that were so scared they forgot how to fly, and instead ran!

(I actually like it more than my wingmaster)

Nowadays I only hunt upland game birds if I hunt at all.

Still shoot target, though, on a regular basis -- handgun and skeet.

Yeah, I use to love bird hunting.  Believe it of not, we use to have birds.  We had some guys raising them and releasing them.

But with all of the big, big farmers that have torn out all of the fence rows and the people with wood burning stoves cutting all of the trees down.  When a bird or a rabbit crosses one of the 100 to 150 acre fields the have to pack a lunch.

You got to watch those back twisting exercise.  I thought I would strengthen my body core.  I tried laying on the floor and tried taking my legs and putting them to the sides of my body as far as I could reach.  Right and left.

That night I had a sciatic nerve attack at around 2:30am in the night.  I can honestly say I have never had something hurt as bad as that.  This lightening bolt shot down from my lower back through my hip down trough my leg to the bottom of my foot.  :gha: :gha:  :gha:  :gha:

For two week I could not, standing raise my left leg off of the floor.  I am still getting over it's effects.  I asked my doctor about what cause it.  He said, "no one knows, but I know I don't want one."  I ask how long it would take to heal.  He said "It's a nerve and a nerve does what it wants to.  I don't know."   Good luck.

You've got me beat on that one. I think mine's getting better. I donated that dayum medicine ball to Goodwill. ;D
