PH if you have any plain chicken broth on-hand, you can mix that w/the white rice and it should be okay for his stomach. That'll get some vitamins back in his system.

I should have thought about that myself, but I'll have to go to the store and get some. Thanks!  :smitten:

Amazingly he seems to know best surrounding what he can eat right now and cannot. I gave him his usual food this morning, which remains untouched. But the second I made the rice and sat it down in front of him he began eating it right away. And he is eating his milk bones too, which sat in front of him most of the day. And he is finally drinking water again. I had to get his "outside bowl" and fill it with water and ice cubes, and he began drinking it. . .

He is not as lethargic as he was, but still has a way to go before I am saying he's out of the woods yet. I will be staying up tonight with him to help him avoid any accidents. (He had one last night but even had the sense to go on the granite and not the carpeted area. He seems to be very leery of waking us up in the middle of the night for some reason or another. He even took us right to his accident when we got up this morning, showing us what he had done, head down and tail tucked, and obviously sorry and ashamed). We didn't scold him or anything, just went about cleaning it all up and sanitizing the floor. He seemed confused by that. . .

I need a real big swift kick in the rear end for even giving that to him, but I have learned my lesson in spades. He will not get another real bone as long as I remain his alpha male! Not one!

Stayed up until about 4 am this morning with the pup. Every hour to hour and a half I would go wake him up and make him go outside. The shit weasel has not made an appearance since about 7 last night.

Pup cleaned out his food bowl about 2 this morning, and when he did that I stayed up another 2 hours to make sure it stayed in his stomach, which it appears it did. Mrs Horse took him out this morning before work, and said she had to wake him up to make him go outside. He had a bowl movement then but it was too dark outside to see if it was still shit weasel like. . .

I got up about 10:30 am today and when I came downstairs he was his usual self, holding his toy bone, wagging his tail so hard I thought his butt would fall off, and growling his "good morning dad" greeting to me.  Then he dropped his toy and ran to his downstairs bed where the milk bone mom gives him before leaving each morning sat. He does this every day and waits for me to tell him to go ahead and eat it before doing so. I gave him the command and he sucked it right down.

Took him outside and he was running and jumping and did his usual marking activity, and no bowl movement. When we came back in, (I refused to allow play time just yet), he gave me the "dad I am hungry" signal by going to his food bowl and moving it around, then came and put his head in my lap when I ignored it, and began giving me the stare and started "talking" to me about it. When I asked him what he wanted he went straight to his food bowl and gave me the "I'm hungry dad" series of growls and yips. . .

He sat patiently by as I filled his bowl with his usual mix of dry and canned food, and when I told him to go ahead and eat it he dove right in. He is now napping contently on his bed right next to my chair. . .

So it appears the rice worked very well on his shit weasel, and while I am not ready to declare an absolute victory for him as of yet, I am pretty darned sure he's at the edge of the woods and cocked and locked!    And I am so thankful to have my little puppy back!

My mom used to say that if you're hungry, then you're not sick. It sounds like he's on the mend and I know you're happy about that.

Indeed I am! (Funny how things like this can make you ecstatic isn't it?).

He's tired because of the potty drills I put him through all night, and I am sure from being so sick the previous two days as well. But he seems to be feeling a whole LOT better, and once he has a normal bowl movement I'll be satisfied. . .

Poor thing. . . I bet his butt hole is raw and sore from that damned shit weasel!  :'(

I had to get caught up on this one..............I'm glad you have been able to nurse your puppy back to good health.

I'm sure that was not easy, just like one of the kids, huh?

 Worse in a lot of ways though!  :spooked:

They cannot speak to tell you what hurts, and they cannot tell you when they need to blow chow or crap. . . unless you are paying close attention to them.

He's not  out of the woods yet, and the weasel is still around. I took him out a little bit ago and he crapped all over himself. SO I had to give him a bath, which he was in no mood for to say the least. . .

But its more soft serve now instead of spewing watery excrement. I made some fresh white rice and mixed 3 cups in with a can of his food for dinner tonight, and he ate every last bit of it. That should help substantially to provide some solidity to his bowl movements. I think he's well onto the path of healing though, but dad's staying home from bowling this evening to make sure.

I'll be satisfied he's alright when his digestive system returns to normal, and not a moment before. He's my lil puppy and I am the reason he is sick, so I will nurse him back to health no matter what it takes. (Which I'd do even if I didn't cause him to be sick).

It's amazing how ingrained in our lives our pets become. Even when their primary purpose is security and protection, they still worm their way into the very core of our hearts. It is indeed a lot like having another child. . . but you can get people to watch your children!

I am now ready to officially declare the weasel is dead and the pup is fine!  :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

I fixed him more white rice last night and mixed it with his regular canned food. He scarfed it right up, and all is back to normal today.

I will feed him the same thing tonight, then transition him back to his regular feeding starting tomorrow.

I even played with him for about an hour this morning outside, and he got all covered in mud in the process. But I was happy to be cleaning him up when we were finished, and he is back to his typical behaviors and attitude now. . .

Today is "Pay it Forward" Day. I don't know if it's "officially" that, but I remember last year there was something similar and it really worked. Someone started it at Starbucks by buying the person behind him a cup of coffee and from what I understand it continued most of the day. There was a story about the toll plaza too. Someone payed for the person behind them and so it went. Random acts of kindness are very cool and I do think they spread as each person is uplifted my a stranger's thoughtfulness.

I don't know if the person did this b/c it's "Pay it forward" day or if they were just being nice, but I found a small bag w/the cutest Christmas ornaments on my stoop this morning.

I'm heading out in a couple hours and I'm going to be looking for an opportunity to pass it along.

A little reminder for our supposed "Christian Nation" and especially our congressional representation. You say "we" are a Christian Nation, and our government is based upon Christian Values? Why are you then holding the least of us, the unemployed, hostage to your political ideals and posturing?

Assuming is the work of the entity you identify as Satan.

I already told you that was not a personal attack but you chose to play the victim card anyway.  :-\
