   my sister is 5 months pregnant.  there is no amniotic fluid.  the baby's kidneys aren't functioning.  there maybe nothing they can do to save him/her.  my sister is crushed already.

I'm soooo sorry ~vxn~.  That type of loss is devastating, and she's in the second trimester, which makes it even harder. My aunt had a baby almost 30 years ago, she was born with a hole  in her heart. The minute she was born the doctors whisked her away, and my aunt never got to hold her. She died 6 hours later. So, it's real hard when you're that far along. They say things happen for a reason, but it's hard to comprehend why.Keep us updated.

 I just got some really bad news this morning. My husband took his cat for his shots this morning. His cat tested positive for Feline Aids.  To add insult to injury.... the Vet told him that our other inside cats are probably positive too. I suppose we'll lose all of them to it.  The vet thinks Scooter (hubby's cat ) may have been born with it. We found him in our garage when he was about 3 weeks old. I think he got it here. Six months after we moved here ,the previous owner told me her cat died from it. She knew I had cats, and didn't tell us about that. If I ever see that bitch again she will regret the day she ever met me. I swear I will beat her into the ground. I'm really at a loss here. Monday, I'm taking Baby Dexter for his shots. I'm having him tested for everything imaginable. Then he's gonna get every shot they have. I don't know why the vet never told us that Feline Aids was a possibility?  We know all about Feline Leukemia, we've dealt with that before.They have a vaccine for both !!! Needless to say... it is a very sad day here. I don't know how Hubby is going to take this. He worships his cat. Hell, Scooter is in his will.

Dex, I'm sorry to hear about your cat and other cats too. So, feline aids isn't sexually transmitted or via blood? I've never heard of these things! Is there a treatment for it?

I haven't taken Mojo to the vet yet because I wanna do it all in one fell swoop (get her spayed and shots), but I'm going to get her tested for everything!

So, the baby is still alive? I don't blame your sister. This probably sounds crazy but.... miracles do happen sometimes. It's good sometimes to try to be hopeful about things like this, guardedly hopeful. I'll be praying for you guys.

Hubby is taking this really bad, infact I'd say he's devastated. He has gone into his shell, so to speak. He won't talk and he wont eat. I'm really worried about him. I've tried to talk to him and comfort him, but he has me on ignore. He wont even speak to me. I'm not even here. This is how he gets, and I always worry he might try to hurt himself. All I can do is sit back, and watch him go through hell. Thank God it's the weekend, and I can keep an eye on him.

Have your kitten tested for everything possible!!!! Then get all the shots. Scooter  (hubby's cat) has NEVER missed a set of his shots ever. We thought he was being vaccinated for everything possible. But, he has never been vaccinated for FIV/HIV.I guess some vets are reluctant to give them that shot, because studies have been done, and a serious side effect is carcinoma/ cancer.  That is a very serious side effect IMO. You're damned if you do, damned if you don't.

vxn, I am so sorry for your sister. I have heard that there is such a thing as a dry birth. I am not trying to get your hopes up, but what are the chances that the baby can be born alive?  I know this is hard time for all. I also hope that all of you have lots of good support.


Dexter, I am so sorry to hear about your cats, I have 6 of them so I know how you feel. Feline aides is transmitted like a cold and it is deadly. Cats almost just have to pass each other and not even touch in order to catch this.
People don't hear much about it because the humane society is afraid that when people hear the word AIDES there will be an out and out killing of cats. all cats.
It is nothing like people AIDES.

the lungs have not been able to develop--no fluid for breathing practice.  he/she can be born alive--only to suffocate--they can't ventolate if there are no lungs to ventolate.  with the other complications--the heart enlarged and on the wrong side, the umbilical cord, etc--it looks VERY hopeless.  if it were just the little nipper's kidneys (the original  problem)--they could help him/her.
