Thanks!!!!!!!

I get four weeks each year but because of whatever, I haven't been able to take off a full week at one time in WAY too long.

Gonna get some mountains under my feet again!

How far are you from it?
About 20 miles. Hubby has relatives that live right on the river, and we don't know if they got out or not. Their home is most likely completely under water. The town I work in has a water conservation order in place. The water supply is pumped from 20 miles away, and if the pump floods out, I may be home for 3 days, for lack of water in town. The restaurant will have to close until the water supply can be restored. I'm glad I've got well water.

That is all so sad.  I was in Sacramento about 21yrs or so ago when a levee went in a town not too far from there and  when we left to come home we had to drive past some of the homes that had been destroyed and underwater and it is just so, gosh I don't really know how to describe it.  Its an awful feeling to see something like that, totally different than seeing it on TV.

What I saw on TV looked horrible. They showed houses that were soooo surrounded by water, all you could see was the roof tops.  I have yet to hear what they are doing about the animal situation. I wonder if people were allowed to take their pets with them? I would imagine most of the livestock probably drowned.  What a horrible thing to have to go through. We had a horrible flood in 1993. It was on the books as one of the worst ones ever, and this flood has surpassed it. They're saying this is the flood of the century. I lived a mile from the Spoon River in 1993, and the worst part, was the stench of dead fish, when the water receded. The fields surrounding the river had thousands of dead fish laying around. The smell was soooo bad, that you'd gag just driving by the area. *yuck*  :spooked:

Where we passed it wasn't a dead fish smell so much as soured ground and mold and mildew.
