Soapy water won't hurt the flowers. In fact, that's also the best cure for aphids.

ya know, it makes no sense to worry about survival if they are suggesting killing the creature.  yep, that was most certainly a duh moment on someone's part. LOL

OK...so you spray it on the leaves to get rid of any aphids. Then it will drip on the ground.

What really irritates me is when I was pulling the weeds tonight I got into an ant hill and those little suckers got in my gloves and were biting the crap out of me.  Those little red ants have a fierce bite...

Those red ants are beasts. When I was a kid we called them piss ants LOL!!!

speaking of water as a way to rid ones home of pests...

a friend had a problem with a possum in her crawl space...
so she sat a trap, caught the sucker, and then called animal control to come get it.
They said they dont do that. She asked if she should just go drop it in a field somewhere...they said no, something about rabies.
So she asked what she SHOULD do. They told her to fill a plastic trash can with water and drop the thing in, cage and all.

That is HORRIBLE  They are very sweet creatures.A friend of mine found a baby one in his driveway, and couldn't keep it. Dex to the resque.    I took it home with me and raised it in the house for 3 months. When we felt she was old enough, we set her free, down over a hill behind our house. We didn't handle her a lot ,because we didn't want her to become tame. We didn't see anything of her for a while, them she started showing up with 2 males( lucky girl) we were thrilled that she was still alive. She loves corn curls, and I put them out on the deck every night. Opposums get along well with my cats. They sit right with the cats, and eat out of the bowl together. They really are sweet animals. It's sad that they told your friend to kill it that way. That's just plain cruel.

Please don't feed animals those things. It's bad enough that humans eat them.

we were trapping our trespassers--skunks, racoons, groundhogs--mostly.  then we'd call the animal control guy, he'd remove them for us.  one day the animal guy was away.  we had a skunk.  it was hot out.  (you have to set the traps in a black garbage bag to make it look like a cave--critters are too smart around here.)  we didn't want him baking in the sun and weren't about to let him loose in the fenced-in yard again.  we called the cops to remove him.  well, they took him... and fined us for illegal trapping.  apparently, it is illegal to trap ANY quadraped, even mice--no matter the harm they may do.

(we have a pal or two in the legal system and weaseled out of the fine... and donated our 4 $75 traps to the city.)

One night at about 10:30, I was watching TV, and the central air kicked on, and the house filled up with a stench. I thought' Gee Gods what is that smell"??? Then it hit me... skunk!!!! One of the pesty creatures had backed up and hosed the ac unit in the back yard. Jesum Crow!!! The smell was horrible,but I couldn't open the windows you know, the skunk was out there.It sprayed it like that about 4 nights in a row. Then it ended. I got a call from my elderly neighbor lady asking if we had had trouble with skunks??? Appearently, her dog Annie had gotten ambushed several times by the crazy thing LOL!!! We don't have that problem anymore, we saw the fat little turd dead on the road. He was a road pizza.

Please don't feed animals those things. It's bad enough that humans eat them.

They love them.  Spare the rod and spoil the critters.
