I'm  listening to Coldplay. That makes me ready for fall. I'm over this hot weather. I never have cared for it. Give me crisp air, fall smells, pumpkin pie, falling leaves, football. That is heaven my friends. That is heaven.

Amen Dasiy. What a great description of that beautiful season called Fall. By the way, what is Pandora that you and damfast have been discussing?

Internet radio. You put in the name of a band you like, and it matches up similar sounds and plays them. Example: mine at the moment is set for Coldplay. I get a lot of stuff like Hootie and the Blowfish, The Fray, Goo Goo Dolls, Dave Matthews, and some other stuff I'd never heard of before but found I like.

Check it out! www.pandora.com

I agree, Fall is my favorite season of the year. Midwestern Falls are the bomb!!!!! The beautiful leaves and foilage, haywrack rides and wiener roasts. In Illinois, the first 2 weekends in October, we have what is known as Scenic Drive. Allot of the river towns have something like a Fall Festival. People start at one end of the county, and stop at every town along the way. There are set ups all along the way. People sell crafts, food and antiques. There are demonstrations of old time trades like, broom making, rug making, wood carving, etc etc etc. Where I grew up, theres a very small mountain, actually it is considered a state park. Every year Indians come and set up their Tee Pees, and do demonstrations on making arrow heads, and you can look in their Tee Pees, and see how they live. There are also war reanactors that shoot a cannon. The sound of that cannon bounces off the valley, it can be heard for miles. It's like one of the biggest events in Illinois. People come in from other states to it. On a sad note, our local part of it, may only be on it another year, because alot of the old timers that have directed it, have passed away or are too old to do it. My husbands family have never been involved in it, but they volunteered, and took the torch for this year. Maybe if all goes well, and they have a good turn out, they'll keep doing it. It is just a wonderful event, and we look forward to it every year. I always have to at least have a funnel cake, and haystack onion rings every year. It's cool!!!

Dex, that sounds like so much fun. In Maryland we had the apple festival which was what the kids and I lived for! It was only one day though. Here in California, in a town a little north of me, called Julian, they do something similar, but I haven't made it yet.  Hopefully, this year.

There's a town about an hour away, that has a Strawberry Festival, every year at the begining of June. About a half an hour away they have a Rubarb Festival. I've never been to that one, but I have been to the Strawberry one. Next month we're going to The New Windsor Rodeo. It's the smallest rodeo in the world. It's alot of fun. They have a flea market, with a large assortment of items. I collect fantasy knives, so when I go to events like that I usually buy knives.

I have bad memories of Rubarb. Let's just say that the 1st pie I learned how to make was Rubarb pie and it was delicious, but deadly. :spooked: (All that fiber!) I love festivals of any type. I like the crowds and the excitement. The funniest one that I went to was a "Corn festival" in Maryland. Everything, of course, revolved around corn. It was fairly "corny" whahahah woh. The entire festival was for charity to buy some equipment for my son's middle school. In fact it was to be his first year in that school. All of the teachers and administrators participated. There was one guy talking smack on the dunking booth. He was giving his best try at talking people into giving it a try and then cracking them  up so they couldn't throw well and dunk him. My son walked up and the guy was talkin' trash, just like w/everyone else. I said, "you may not want to do that" and laughed. He laughed with me, but kept poking fun at my son. With his sly little grin, he reared back and POP! SPLASH!, in went the guy. My son had two more softballs and this guy went in two more times. The guy was ranting and raving about "getting him" next year, but I could tell he was joking. The following year, my son discovered that "this guy" was his gym teacher and baseball coach. LOL

I have accomplished two major things that I wanted finished today and one more left on my plate. System willing, I'll finish it next. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

My fingers are crossed. You talked about Rhubarb pie,I never knew until recently, that the leaves on a Rhubarb plant are toxic.  :spooked: I never ever knew that. There was a small patch of it here when we moved here. It's extremely toxic to cats, so we keep it mowed down. Cats love to sample and taste everything, so we didn't want to take a chance, of them eating it. There are alto of things a person wouldn't think of, that is deadly to cats. A real shocker for me was Baby's Breath in floral arrangements. One of my cats ate some one time, and got real sick from it. I called poison control, and they said as long as he kept vomiting he'd be OK, but if he quit, they'd have to pump his stomach. Luckily he threw it all up and was fine. Now  when my husband  buys me flowers, he gets a substitute that is non toxic to animals.
