I'm not sure who I will be pulling for this season. I'm leaning toward Denver for obvious reasons. (Manning and Stokely. sic? - I like both of them and hope they do well this season).

Preseason has little meaning to guage the upcoming season.....but, it is always "fun" to see your team do good as long as you don't assume that means THIS is the way things will go when the REAL seaons starts.  It WAS a very cool way for Luck to start his career off though...

And they wonder why thousands of current and former players are suing the hell out of them over the long term ramifications of this very injury?

  With all of the strength, weight and speed of the players, I don't know how they can stop the concussions.  When a player is thrown into the air 6 to 8 feet and then land on his head, what would be the "G" load on his brain be? :o

  What would be the size of the helmet be?  The size of a large beach ball?   It will sure be interesting what the out come is.   :'(

I must have really been out of touch with football related news lately.  I had no idea that the NFL officials were negotiating a new contract and wouldn't be officiating until one is negotiated and signed.

NEW YORK -- The NFL will open the regular season next week with replacement officials and said it was prepared to use them "as much ... as necessary" afterward.

Replacements will be on the field beginning next Wednesday night when the Dallas Cowboys visit the New York Giants to open the season, league executive Ray Anderson told the 32 teams. Negotiations are at a standstill between the NFL and the officials' union.

The NFL Referees Association was locked out in early June and talks on a new collective bargaining agreement have gone nowhere. Replacements have been used throughout the preseason, with mixed results.
