I don't see WHY you are throwing in the towel already.....I think the Colts have an excellent opportunity to start a fresh and new chapter for Indy.  Did you think Peyton era was going to last forever?  Luck, (if we get him) could possibly provide Indy fans with a lot of excitement.....

Little known factoid...the Duke once played lead guitar for REO Speedwagon.
Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

The truth is slow, but relentless. Over time it becomes irresistible.

I did not know that....that is very cool.  I did know his band at one time was called the All-Star Frogs.

There is huge difference between pessimism and realism; I am just being realistic here. With such a large percentage of key high-performing players gone, and an equal number of newbies and rookies to the team, it is going to be at minimum 5 years before we have an ice cube's hope in hell of putting together a wining season, much less a championship team.

Same thing happend to Chicago, and look how long it took them to even begin to compete again.

Well. . . the numbers are in and just as I predicted. . .

The final numbers are in, and show that city and county agencies combined took a $1.3 million loss when Indianapolis hosted the Super Bowl.

and yet, it is an investment, which the return on it, will come over the next few years.

This is from the same article that was posted:

Media exposure: Between Jan. 1 and Feb. 10, the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association recorded 2,200 mentions about visiting Indianapolis in national and international media, ICVA spokesman Chris Gahl said. (The ICVA typically records 2,000 such mentions in an entire year.)

Gahl estimates it would cost $9.1 million to buy advertising with similar reach.

Convention interest: The ICVA says "lead room nights" -- an indicator of hotel room use associated with conventions that are considering booking events in Indianapolis -- reached 998,000 in the first three months of this year, up from 390,000 last year.

It's likely that only one-third of those bookings actually will come to fruition as Indianapolis competes against other cities, said Leonard Hoops, president and CEO of the ICVA. But even that more conservative portion would result in a $100 million boost in direct spending by convention attendees over the next decade or so, he said.

Hoops said even more spending could result from potential business by another dozen or so conventions whose representatives attended the Super Bowl.

USFL plans to relaunch in 2013

"We will play in markets where there are no NFL teams or major league baseball teams. It's a league for guys who are on the bubble for making NFL teams, and we will have complete open access for the NFL. We want to build a model that is sustainable."
The USFL is looking at a 14-game season from March until June in eight cities. Its players would then be free to join NFL clubs at their training camps.
All player and coach contracts will be owned by the league, with salaries not approaching anything the NFL offers.
Cities currently being considered are Portland, Ore.; Salt Lake City; San Antonio or Austin, Texas; Columbus or Akron, Ohio; Oklahoma City; Omaha, Neb.;  Raleigh/Durham, N.C.; Birmingham, Ala.; and Memphis, Tenn.

"These are cities with underutilized facilities at that time of year," Cuadra said.

Interesting.  That league failed miserably the first time around.  It'll be interesting to see what happens with this 'reinvention' of itself.

Swell. . . another league to increase the number of players walking around crazier than a shit house rat due to brain injury. . .

Most likely they're resurrecting them in order to replace the NFL when all of the former players and their families get finished suing the hell out of the NFL.

Okay. . . SO Dolts. . . err,  Colts training camp opens this coming Saturday in Anderson. I just may try to catch a few sessions to see if there are going to be any potential blockers in the crop to make winning the "suck for Luck" contest worth the lack of effort last year.  :roll eyes:

My guess is that unless there are at least two good blockers in there, Luck is going to be pummeled by a "welcome to the NFL" wrecking crew. And the first time the Colts meet the Broncos Peyton is going to march through the defense like a hot knife through butter. . .

Of course if my suspicions are right, and I hope they are not, Peyton may be in a wheel chair before that meeting ever happens. . .

So the Dolts, winners of the suck for Luck contest last year, spanked the Rams 38-3 today in a pre-season match-up. . . Luck threw a short screen for his first NFL pass and it resulted in a 63 yard TD run by Brown.  (Longer than Manning's first NFL toss to Marvelous Marvin for the same result).

And while some may be so naive as to think this is a good omen, I would point out to them that the Dolts of the past rarely won a pre-season match-up. . .

He's an asshole.  He didn't even look good in the exhibition game either.  The Dolphins may cut him.
