The issue is that those who can successfully cast off the whole concept of the "sky daddy" generally are more intelligent than those who continue to wallow in that belief system.  There are data that support that. 

The issue is that it becomes more and more difficult to dumb down the discourse to that level.  When you have people who believe in non-existent fantasy, and then they try and control national discourse and vote based on that fantasy, it really becomes dangerous to the common good.

Religion really is one of the vilest memes to ever come down the pike.
