Yet, his new "jobs plan" includes $1.5 trillion in new taxes....

That would explain why he said nothing during his speech.  Some more of that change the name of something that sounds bad, unacceptable, to something else that they, the liberals, think makes it sound acceptable.  Guess what, a government fee is a tax and will be hitting the low, middle, and high income families harder than it will hit the "rich".

The core of the president's plan totals just over $2 trillion in deficit reduction over 10 years. It would let Bush-era tax cuts for upper income earners expire, limit deductions for wealthier filers and close loopholes and end some corporate tax breaks. It also would cut $580 billion from mandatory programs, including $248 billion from Medicare. It also targets subsidies to farmers and benefits programs for federal employees.

-$580 billion in cuts in mandatory benefit programs, including $248 billion in Medicare and $72 billion in Medicaid and other health programs. Other mandatory benefit programs include farm subsidies and federal employee benefits. Administration officials said 90 percent of the $248 billion in 10-year Medicare cuts would be squeezed from service providers. The plan does shift some additional costs to beneficiaries, but those changes would not start until 2017

It's not just millionaires who'd pay more under President Barack Obama's latest plan to combat the deficit.

Air travelers, federal workers, military retirees, wealthier Medicare beneficiaries and people taking out new mortgages are among those who would pay more than $130 billion in government revenues raised through new or increased fees.

Airline passengers would see their federal security fees double from $5 to $10 for a nonstop round-trip flight and triple to $15 by 2017, raising $25 billion over the coming decade.
Federal workers would face an additional 1.2 percentage point deduction from their paychecks to contribute $21 billion more for their pensions over the same period. Military retirees would pay a $200 fee upon turning 65 to have the government pay their out-of-pocket Medicare expenses. They'd also pay more for non-generic prescription drugs.

Many of Obama's proposals are retreads from earlier budget proposals, including those submitted by his predecessors. Most have been rejected year after year. Some ideas, like requiring wealthier veterans to pay more for their health care, stir up opposition from powerful interest groups. Others, like the bigger security fee for flyers, seem too close to a ticket tax increase.

But unlike Obama's tax proposals, the new fees aren't necessarily dead on arrival with Republicans. A group led by Vice President Joe Biden had tentatively agreed to increase the airline security fee before talks between the White House and Congress collapsed in June. The Biden-led group was also weighing an increase in pension contributions by federal workers, an idea that has riled organized labor and other Democratic-friendly interest groups.

"Why (would) the administration ... propose a Social Security payroll tax holiday in its jobs bill, but simultaneously suggest a tax increase for middle-class federal workers?" asked Joseph Beaudoin, president of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association.

Obama's plans as of today was long over due.  The rich has gotten so rich at the expense of the middle class.

I don't know how "ME" and Hawk can defend the super rich that has a $4 million yachts and 6 or 7 multimillion dollar homes and Private million dollar jets can pay their fair share of taxes.  They got rich on the backs of the American people it is time for them to pay their taxes. :trustme:

AND HOW IT THIS GOING TO STIMULATE THE ECONOMY OR CREATE JOBS?........ISN'T that WHAT WE NEED, RIGHT NOW?

I think it has more to do with control than anything with the liberals......they want to control EVERYBODY....THAT sums it all up.

I don't know about creating jobs with this bill, but it sure will help with the deficit.  We are going to have to go after the jobs we lost though free trade which George W. got passed and all of the jobs that the corporations and business outsourced. You know the free treaties like NAFTA, WTO and so on and the so called free trade treaties that Romney wants to pass.

Let us next go after the free trade treaties and the unfair tariffs that the other countries got against us.  Let us have the same tariff on their products as they have on ours.  Just think of the money we could collect on the China tariff.  We get 36% tariff on China's products instead of 2 1/2%.  If we put that money to towards Medicare and Medicade the problem would be solved.  Or just think that Korea has a 400% tariff against American cars and they sold over 955 thousand cars here in the USA.  Seems fair to me, but too hard for the politicians to see especially the Tea/Republican Party.  :knife:

It won't do a damn thing for the deficit if no one is working and can't buy the products from the huge corporations which will cease to exist.  Guess ya'll will be happy then though 'cause the bad corporations will be gone and everyone will be equally poor.  Damn, just think we'll all be living free with great health care and the government taking care of us from cradle to grave and having whatever the government wants us to have 'cause we'll all be working for them.  What a life....

Why do you defend stupidity?

Did you read what you just wrote?........THIS is Obama's "JOB CREATION" Bill and you don't know about it creating jobs, and that's okay? and you think it will help the deficit?.....even though they are planning on spending trillions of $$.

This is so easy to read and see it will do nothing but put us deeper into a recession, if not a depression........and YOU are already putting blame on tea party people who are against....SPENDING MORE TAX DOLLARS WE DO NOT HAVE!..

Troll, I know you are a good person and a reasonable man, but this POTUS and his admin is NOT reasonable or are the doing what is best for this country....but your blinders are keeping you from seeing the truth.....you have so much hatred, you are no longer being reasonable...at least that is the way I see it.

I know I am wasting my time.  George W. gave the super rich one hell of a tax cut.  They did not produce one job and we lost jobs when they out sourced our jobs, our machines and our patents.  They developed new products here, take that off their taxes and ship the production over seas.

For some reason you or "ME" can't see it.  Maybe you have been blinded by all of the money the super rich has.  Who knows what' your problem are.  It's really bad you can wake up and smell the rot in this country and it come from the super corporations and the super rich.  Keep dreaming, because it is really a nightmare.

Gee since Bush had a 4% unemployment rate and the highest was 5% after 9/11 we may have had  0% unemployment if it hadn't been for our outsourced  jobs.  Of course you realize jobs were being outsourced as early as the early 80's don't you?  Probably not 'cause you'd have to admit Bush isn't solely responsible.

If George W. is innocent of this, why did he and the Republican Party deregulate the banks and the stock markets so the could gamble with some one else's money.  Bundling bad loans and selling a product they knew was bad. They buy insurance on the bad bundles they knew would default.

There were a bunch of Super Rich Republican that got richer on this fraud and you have the guts to defend the dumbest, most stupid and corrupt presidents America has ever had.  Like I said you voted for him twice and I guess you're still trying to get people to forget it.  Fat chance.  :azz:
