Those of you that have been members of this place for some time already know that Henry Hawk and I are friends in REAL life, and not just here. . .

I've been asked to pass along some news of a personal nature, that is deeply concerning.

VERY recently Henry and his family have learned of a health challenge that is very troubling. This concern involves Mrs. Hawk and a cancerous growth that has been identified.

The prognosis at this point is VERY good, and doctors have stated that they are very confident that the worst of this challenge will be the procedural portion and the discomforts this may drive.

I'd like to ask that each one of us keep Henry and his family in our thoughts, and if you are so inclined, your prayers.

While those highly trained to deal with such situations are confident of an excellent outcome, I believe each of us know all too well the stress and anxiety levels any diagnosis containing the word "cancer" can be; and try as we might no level of reassurance is very good at relieving it until the word "free" is connected to it by those same highly trained individuals.

Henry wants each of us to know that things are going as well as one can expect in such circumstances, and that this is why we may not hear a whole lot from him for a period of time here; as he and his family come to grips with things.

HH, you are in my thoughts now, and will be until this difficult time passes.   We differ in perspectives, but I truly hope for the best possible outcome for you and your wife.

Unfortunately, I know exactly what it's like to be on your side hearing something like that from a doctor.  Stay strong my online friend.  And keep us updated as you can.

Henry stopped by the stall today and we had a nice chat.

He seems to be holding up alright, and the prognosis is very positive.

Thanks guys, I appreciate everyones comments and their thoughts & prayers.

We are cautiously optimistic with a somewhat promising prognosis.  We will learn more in a couple of weeks as she prepares for surgery to have a neuroendocrine tumor removed.  It is attached to her pancreas. It is more than likely she will have her pancreas removed entirely, but at the least 2/3rds of it.  Also, she may have her spleen removed.  With all of that said, it is pleasing news to us, that she will no have to undergo any chemothearpy.  Also, it is explained to us by the oncologist, that it is likely this will rid her of all cancer.  It is still very nerve wrecking and worrisome, until this is all done and confirmed.

Henry, coincidentally, a friend sent something to me that you may be interested in for Mrs. Hawk. It could be a way to releave some of her day-to-day stress that's on top of everything. I'm posting it here b/c this could be helpful to anyone really, but I'll have to do it from home. I don't have access to that email here.

Hang in there, Henry. Let us know if you need anything. Even if it's just an ear.
