Anybody else watch this mini-series, and if so what are your thoughts on it?

Just for shits n giggles; it is a nice piece for those of you who were not alive when JFK/RFK fell to assassins bullets. Keep in mind though, that there is a lot of "storytelling" going on within it.

Example: (I have not seen all of it and missed at least 4 of the 8 episodes), The way LBJ is portrayed leans heavily toward the "resistance" viewpoint; although as with most of the main characters, the actors very closely resemble the real people. Sometimes strikingly so. The guy playing LBJ completely captures his "swagger" and body language in the scenes I have seen.

Also, Ethyl's battle with booze appears to have been completely written out of the storyline from what I have seen. Even though the issue held its share of the limelight during the Camelot years and after.

While I've never heard enough of the real Joe Kennedy's voice to say whether the actor portraying him is even close, again the resemblance is striking at times.

Greg Kinnear nails JFK numerous times, and especially within the "remade" home movies we've all seen of the family playing football on the beach. Katie Holmes brings a very strong resemblance to Jackie Kennedy / Onasis.

I am going to order the dvd, just so I can sit down and watch it all the way through without commercials.

JFK's womanizing is at the forefront, but I saw no indecent exposure or nudity. Joe's encouragement and support of it stand in stark defiance of the religious attempts of RFK to rein in his manwhore brother. At one point, when Bobby was trying to intervene with Marilyn Monroe, Marilyn got the claws out and went into full blown seduction mode as a means to hook up with Bobby. And effort he steadfastly held off if the story is to be believed, due to religious convictions.

The series seems to have just enough of what we hope is the truth within it, but the slants are clearly apparent  at many junctures as well.

Just enough surreality in it to make me watch it, and get mad over missing 4 episodes. . .

ANd while Joe Kennedy was a shell of his former self at the time JFK was killed in Dallas, stricken by a stroke that left him unable to walk and speak, the story line tries to demonstrate that RFK felt obligated to pick up where JFK left off, implying Joe asked it of him. . .
