A creek behind one of my daughters residence is now a raging river and it is now about half a block from their backyard. . .  :spooked:

Winds there are still sustained and high, blowing over a greenhouse behind the other daughter's home this morning. (This is the daughter that has a rescue squad staged nearby consisting of fire dept and national guard units.). The water is still rising there as well, and has cut off all residents from leaving that subdivision.

Both still have power and cable, but I expect that if Harvey follows the prediction this will end later in the week.

School is cancelled this week and this morning it is expected to be cancelled for the foreseeable future.

My son in law that works for Houston PD cannot get to work, so he has been deployed to assist with the rescue unit near his home. He reported to work via watercraft yesterday and is still on duty. . .

Historic flooding and destruction . . . And they may be in for act II later in the week.
My thoughts and prayers are with them...

This is at the back of one of my daughters place. This evening. . . :spooked:

This is from a creek that is behind their home. Normally it is so small you can step right over it. It is now creeping to their back door. . .

Yes, I remember people stealing flat screen tv s and boxes of expensive shoes during Katrina. Those people are scrum. However , I also remember seeing a woman who had taken a can of baby formula and a box of diapers. I don't know if that was all she took, but that doesn't seem quite the same as taking the tv's and shoes. Nothing is ever black and white, there are always gray areas.

A lot of that stuff the people are looting, like food, clothes and let's face it, electronic stuff can't be sold any more.  Main reason is water damage.  Any looting being done now, the looters will need scuba gear.

Yes. Made me think of something my old friend Charlie, who was a lawyer, once said to me when I said something derogatory about stealing in general (I was a good bit younger and the Ten Commandments were still fresh in my mind): "Think about it," he said. If you had no money and your little boy was  hungry, would you steal to feed him?" I thought about it, and it didn't take long to know what my answer would be.

Curfew now in effect.  The jackasses I heard about were taking the tires and wheels of vehicles in homes where folks had evacuated. The individuals I know and that I am related to are now armed to the teeth and prepared to do just that; they'll pay for it with their own blood and perhaps their lives.

Finally good news from my girls. The "creek" reached the previous pictures level at my daughters and has now begun receding.
