I have never put anyone down because they chose to not go to college. Troll seems to think that anyone could do the job that I did but the fact remains that it was a requirement that one have a degree. I didn't make the rules to that and they were set there long before I started working for them. My husband doesn't have a college degree and many of my friends don't, I like them for who they are not whether they have a degree or not. Troll has in his mind that I must have come from money to have gone to college and that is so far from the truth. My father is a retired teacher who didn't get paid what teachers get paid these days and only got paid for teaching from August until May. He supplemented his income by having a farm on which we had a garden, had a few beef cattle and yes, raised tobacco. He didn't hire outside help to work on a small farm, he had my mom and us kids to do that. I worked my butt off in college and every work study check I got went right back to the college to pay for my education. I have nothing against trade or blue collared workers. One of my best friends is a mechanic and he has so many certificates that they are like college degrees to me only different. Troll.has in his mind that if one has a degree that is means you are an elitist and that is.so not true.
There are those on here who do seem to want to belittle those of us who didn't opt for a higher education though.  They just don't get that the occupations which required higher learning when I was at an age to start a career just flat didn't interest me.

There is nothing wrong with that. A lot of people aren't college bound or have no interest in college.

When I was in school, there were set tracks, some were vocational tracks for those who were going in the skilled trades, military tracks and college. I was on the college track but there are times I wish I had gone to vocational school also.

I'm not sure how this whole thing got started, but I have never put anyone down who has opted to not go to college or higher learning. If they are happy and productive, then good for them....it is not my business.

I think it got started because a girl had goals and a guy didn't. Whether the guy had gone to college or not was not really the question but that maybe he didn't have the same goals period as the girl but then she is a bitch because she broke it up but had it been him, he probably would have been cheered!

No, No, No, people like me and my ilk don't belittle people with college degrees.  We just don't like your holy and tho attitude that just because you went to school for four more years.  It doesn't makes you any smarter than us who chose another way to go through life.     I am very happy with my past life and the way I did it has provided me with the money to enjoy my wife and son and all of my and our toys.

None of you college graduates knew what you were going to do when you got out of college.     You learned your "Career" with on the job training.  That degree got through the front door of that company you work for.  Another legal barrier set up by another college graduate to keep people out of that "Career".  It is another way to use legal discrimination in picking people to work.  Where in hell can a person be turned down for being "Over qualified " for the job.  In other words" you will quit us if you find another job or you're to old or too black."    Yes, you really know how it is.

I would like to see of of these  people who think they are so smart.  To have come into the Ford plant were I worked at for 38 years.  Tell them to get a  tool box and fill it with the tool they would need to do any job they were told to do.  Without any on the job training which took me a four years of an apprenticeship to get my skilled trades job.  Even after all of that after 38 years of on the job training they would come up with some new job that we would have to learn using our past knowledge to complete.  Then asking a young engineer what kind of parts we need, do you have the parts and how what way did the way he want it done, the young lad would say, " Don't ask me, you the one with the skilled trade."     What we don't like is your ATTITUDE plain and simple.

Wrong, most of us who went to college and got degrees knew exactly what we were getting our degrees in and what we wanted to do with them. I always knew when I was in elementary school that I wanted to work with people and help them with problems and that is exactly why my degree encompasses several areas. I am sure some people don't know what they want to get a degree in but most know after their freshman year what they want a degree in.

After being called stupid for not pursuing a higher education.  Purely self defense.

Go back and read why some of those things were said?  It does make a difference because of what preceded my saying it.  I had already been called stupid because of my opinion about something so, like I said, self defense and stating fact.
