Or not. . . I'm actually considering drastically reducing my cyber presence in this world. . .
I hope that grin and the following post about your fun trip means you were joking. I always look forward to your posts.

Have a safe Memorial Day everyone.  Headed to a cookout and to play music and possibly a bonfire later if it isn't too dry.

Sorry for the abrupt absence. . . The weather is so nice that my wife and I went for a ride aboard the steel horse. What started as a trip to Alexandria, ended up as a 457 mile trek across the midsection of the state, as we ran into friends aboard their own steel horses. . . and another campfire until the wee hours this morning. . .  8)

(Thankfully we loaded up on sunblock and avoided the dreaded sunburn).

Sounds like you and the wife had a blast!!! We went and put flowers on family members' graves, husband is a 4th. degree Knights of Columbus and serves in their Color Guard and they had a flag retrieval ceremony with one of the military groups here to retire a flag. We are going to a cook out later and I made home-made banana pudding for that.

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel sorry for a local news anchor when they announce they are moving to the local Faux affiliate?

I mean, just how desperate does one have to be to make such an idiotic move? It's like throwing all of your experience, education, and credibility into a maggot infested trash can!  :spooked:

Here's another thing I've had stuck in my gizzard for a little over a week. . .

I am in full support of the right to keep and bear arms in this country, but something I saw in Walmart the week before last, gave me pause.

My wife and I went in to grab a couple of things, namely milk, bread, and a couple of condiments. We were right by there so it was more a choice of convenience than any conscious decision. And like every other grocery store, Wally World puts the milk at the back of the store, so we had to walk the entire length of the place to get to it.

Along the way we picked up everything else, and as we approached the milk end, I spot this greasy haired, emaciated, guy with a .45 strapped into holster on his belt. He had his shirt raised up behind the holster, and the weapon was unsecured by it's snap. His clothing was soiled and in dire need of laundering, and he looked like a meth head. . .

I immediately got a sense that this assclown was a retail active-shooter incident waiting to happen, so I stopped as if I were looking at something in the frozen case at the aisle end, and discreetly whispered to my wife to look at him. She did. She also read my mind because we both, in unison, left the cart where it stood and bee-lined for the exit. As we got into the truck we said simultaneously, and out loud, "Let's go to Meijer", and we did.

They are handing out concealed carry permits like they are swimming passes to the local public pool these days. Now, maybe he was just doing the same thing we were, and maybe he wasn't. But I have grandkids I want to see get 20 or so years older before I take the long dirt nap, so when I see an idiot with his appearance, wearing a firearm that is disproportionately sized for his build, strapped onto his side and in direct conflict with everything I see, my intuition starts screaming active shooter.

Who the hell has to wear a firearm into Walmart? Seriously?

Ole' Duke owns a few firearms and strongly believes in the right to bear them but like you I witnessed a feller in Walmart carryin' one on his side in plain view of everyone and I did feel a little intimidated by it. I guess I should have been packin' some fire power meself but I did not think it was necessary. I guess I was wrong.

Best regards,

There are times when I pack heat myself- legally. In fact, most times I am in the truck there is a firearm present. In a lock box.

And anytime I am carrying cash for business purposes, I am carrying a concealed firearm.

I do not wear my firearm into stores or when conducting business for my employer.  One exception to that is when I visit a firearms store.

That is scary! I too have my concealed permit and that was because the job I had, there were times I had to go out after hours and I felt safer carrying a gun but I sure wouldn't carry one in Walmart.

Anne

I think it is scary, too. Does Wal-Mart have a policy about weapons in the store? Some places have a sign saying no weapons allowed, not that would really stop anyone. There used to be a doctor who carried a handgun when he made rounds at the hospital. He had it tucked into the waistband of his pants.
