Even though I 100% agree with you about racism, and I think that Paula Deen has done NOTHING wrong...at least as far as the admission of using a word, 30 years ago.  I also think that the Food Network SUCKS! for dropping her over this.....with that said, I think the Food Network has every right in the world to drop her.  Same with the New England Patriots for dropping Aaron Hernandez, they have an organization to run.  They have to make decisions that is in the best interest of that organization.  Innocent or Guilty, they have HIRED folks to represent them. 

Personally, I would have had MORE respect for the Food Network had they shown some backbone and stood behind Paula Deen.  But, they feared it would hurt them more than help them.

As far as Hernandez and the Patriots, I side with the Patriots.  They have to believe that the Police and the Prosecuting Attorney MUST have some circumstancial evidence that connects him to some wrong doing, that the Patriots does NOT need while preparing to win a championship (btw, I hope they choke).

Innocent until proven guilty, freedom of speech, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness...all of this is STILL in play as it ALWAYS has been.....our current SCOTUS has done NOTHING to harm these individuals.

Remember that there is "sexual discrimination" component to the Deen lawsuit as well.  No much attention being paid there insofar as the media is concerned.

Paula is NOT part of the "sexual discrimination" component...that is on her brother, Bubba Hiers of making inappropriate sexual comments and forcing the woman suing them, to look at pornography with him....

As far as I am concerned, sue the hell out of her brother........but, what it appears that Paula did was NOT worthy of all of the attention is it is gathering.

Let the chips fall.  I think Ms Deen is going to come out stronger AFTER all of this blows over.  I think people in general are tired of ALWAYS being politically correct.  Mistakes happen, it does not mean she is a racist.

That's quite an expensive little faux pas regardless of whether it happened 30 years ago or yesterday.

Thanks for the clarification about the sexual component being on the brother.  I haven't really been following the case other than a cursory scan of the headlines.  Just don't have that much interest in it. 

You know, I never really gave a hoot about her until my wife became a fan of her cooking.  She bought the audio biography of hers and we both listened to it when we went to a conference in florida........I too, became a fan of hers then.  She has a really cool story of rags to riches.

OH, I know!! But dog gone it is GOOD stuff!! My wife and I share cooking time.....she cooks much healthier than I DO.  I love using LARD, BUTTER, SUGAR AND FRYING EVERYTHING I CAN....

I have been lucky so far.......I am NOT overweight and still reasonably healthy.

It has been about 10 years since I have been to the doc and had those checked, but they was all good THEN.

I understand, NOT to take this lightly, but DANG!  I love homestyle cooking.
