And since I sleep rather soundly once I do go to sleep I'd never know there was a storm.  There are disadvantages to being a sound sleeper.

Does it only go off for severe alerts?  There's a big difference between a severe thunderstorm watch or warning and a tornado warning.  At least there is in my opinion.

You're talking to someone who fell asleep in the theater watching the movie Earthquake and, when I had to get up at 0'dark 30, had a clock radio that woke the whole neighborhood except for me and my ex and I don't have a hearing problem either I just sleep very sound.
