I was policing the grounds one day, which involved emptying the trash cans, and two rats ran up my left arm and jumped off my shoulder. . . Now that was creepy!  :spooked:

  Yes, that is creepy.  One day I was cleaning a grain bin and was some sacks of wheat when a rat ran up my pant leg.  The farmer I was working for tried to kill it with a scoop shovel.  I don't was worse the rat or the pain of the scoop.   :eek: :eek: :biggrin:

Amish man jailed for firing deadly shot into air

Wednesday - 9/12/2012, 10:34am  ET

MILLERSBURG, Ohio (AP) - An Ohio Amish man who fired a shot into the air that killed a 15-year-old girl more than a mile away has been sentenced to jail.

Holmes County Prosecutor Steve Knowling says 28-year-old Marion Yoder pleaded guilty Tuesday to negligent homicide.

Judge Robert Rinfret sentenced him to the maximum six months in the county jail on the misdemeanor conviction, but he suspended all but 30 days of the term. Yoder will be on probation for three years and will go back to jail for the full term if he violates it.

Yoder fired a shot into the air as he cleared his muzzle-loading rifle on Dec. 15. The round killed the girl, who was driving a horse-drawn buggy home from a Christmas party.

  From what I can get out of the trajectory of a bullet is that if the bullet is fire in an arc that bullet can kill.  If the bullet is fired straight up the bullet will lose it's velocity and become nonlethal, because of air friction.  Tho if it is a ounce or lead will lead a big bump.   :yes:

  Years ago outside of Celina, Ohio a group of men were firing their deer rifles at head light of junk cars.  This one man had a 30-30 rifle, he shot through a head light and the bullet flew over a mile thought a barn roof and shot a man in the head and killed him.  It was a fact and it did happen.  I read the newspaper reports.  Shit can happen.   :yes:

OGUNQUIT, Maine — Actress Sally Struthers denies driving drunk in Maine, where she's appearing in a musical.
Police say Struthers was arrested early Wednesday after being pulled over on U.S. Route 1 in the southern resort town Ogunquit (oh-GUHNG'-kwit). She was charged with criminal operating under the influence and posted $160 bail.
The 65-year-old Struthers is best known for her role as Gloria Stivic in the 1970s TV sitcom "All in the Family" and later for heart-tugging ads seeking money for children's charities. She has been performing at the Ogunquit Playhouse in the musical "9 to 5."
A publicist says Struthers denies the charges against her.
