Before I had surgery, I was considered legally blind, too.

But, without corrective lenses, I could shoot extremely well. Still can.

With a telescopic sight?  They are using then of pistols.    :rifle:

Not back then, as well as now.

This right here is why I do not traipse around the family farm. This Eastern Diamond Back Rattlesnake was killed not too far from where our farm is located. . . (according to my sister who lives there). :spooked:

Whether they rattle or not, I do not want to be anywhere near a rattler that large without a sidearm with which to kill it. (I would skin it and a couple of it's friends in order to make myself some new meadow muffin kickers though).

Started shooting when I was ~ six years old on the farm.

Have continued to do so all my life -- through the military, etc., with many, many weapons, both long guns and hand guns.

Just a few years ago had lens implants and got a new lease on sight.

I recommend it to anyone at any age who may be suffering from cataracts.

By the way, Troll. It isn't as hard as you might think. You do not need to see the distinct outline of each area of a target, you just need to set the sight picture on the color you want to shoot. Breath control, a steady hold, and an easy, steady trigger squeeze will do the rest. (Of course, a little bit of luck won't hurt.)

Tell me about "lens implants"  I really don't know much about them.  Like you I started shooting at an early age.  In fact I had a Remington hexagon barrel, 22 , pump rifle that I shot out the rifling's.  I got to where I couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with it.  I took it to a gun shop and the man who ran it said, "son you shot out the rifling's.  Those were the days.

I shot expert with the M-1 rifle and Marksman with a very worn out carbine.  I had to adjust the sight with a rock at the range and they only gave us 3 round to zero it in.  The first shot didn't hit the target.

In the last few years I have developed a black spot right in the middle of shooting eye and unless I learn how to shoot left handed my real accurate shooting days over.  But I have shot enough to hit the target from the hip.  :cowboy:

But, I am interested in the lens.  I know nothing will help my right eye but a real dangerous operation.  The spot will have to get a lot bigger before I take that chance.     :salute:

See?  This is what I was talking about on that other thread about why we come here.  I almost anticipated someone was going to go there as soon as I posted that.   :rotfl:
