I called when it was gonna be put out there, and the broker told me that investors consider it a "fad", and would not be a great return, (i think he said a huge loss, but i was being nice).  So I said ok, nevermind.. not for me, I am one of the greedy girls.
So far, tho they have steered me pretty straight, a few losses there for a while, but I dont do much risky investing, too scared.
I remember back in the day, when someone came to us about mutual funds, and how we would make money in a group on the stock market, I thought it was a load of phoooey.  But hubby said, well its not much, lets try it and see.  After a few years of not so much, we started seeing returns.  It was college for three, and money for our first down payment on a house.  Hopefully, if there arent two hundred grandkids, college will come for them.  Or it will crash and they will find this worthless paperwork grandma had.
It's always darkest before the dawn.  So if you're going to steal your neighbor's newspaper, that's the time to do it.

I think you stock broker was 100% right.  It was media hype, nothing else.  Face Book is not making any real money.  Your mutual funds was probably versified which protected you.

My wife and I lost $63,000 in George W.'s stock market bubble.  Because we had bought high grade stock we are back to almost normal, minus $2,000.  Thanks to the Obama administration.  :yeah:

Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

The truth is slow, but relentless. Over time it becomes irresistible.

Another eccentric cheese-head blows up his house. . .

We have had two house to be blown up by natural gas.  One the woman of the house was house cleaning.  She disconnect the space heater and didn't shut of the gas.  BOOM! Blew out all four walls and the roof came straight down.  She was in the house and was unhurt. :@#%&: :help:

The second house blow up was cause by a gas leak in the alley behind the house.  The owner sat down and lit up a cigarette and BOOM!  The gas company bought them a nice new house out in the country and the owner got off with singed hair and eyebrows and nothing less that a sunburn.  Very lucky.
