My New Year Resolution for 2012:

To support my local, unemployed automobile mechanics.

A lot of these individuals have been unemployed for over a year, after being tossed out of the jobs they had worked for years by the closing of dealerships, etc. They cannot find work in their chosen professions, and a lot of them are flipping burgers, etc. just to get by. They have the skills, certifications, and expertise to not only fix your vehicle right, but do so at a price that absolutely kills the dealerships and chain repair shops. (Who pay their workers under 10 buck an hour while charging 140 or more an hour for their services).

These individuals have in many cases, invested tens of thousands of dollars in stocking their personal tool boxes with the right tools needed to do just about anything you need done. And they are working in their driveways, home garages, or even your garage if need be.

So, if you have a vehicle repair you do not want to personally do yourself, and the local repair shop wants to charge you two arms and a leg to fix it, do yourself a favor and ask your friends if anyone they know is an unemployed, certified mechanic. They'll appreciate the work, you'll appreciate the savings, and so will your family!

To those of you venturing out into the wild and wooly night, please do not drink and drive. The jack-booted thugs will be out in force, and looking to bolster the local revenue streams. Please don't contribute.

We never go out on NYE.  Everyone comes here to spend the night, then big breakfast tomorrow and movies and video games tomorrow....(well, today but way later....)

So, My wife and I brought in the New Year watching a series of comedy specials called "Martin Lawrence's 1st Amendment" or something along those lines. . .

And I was floored to see one of the guys I grew up with as one of the comedians on the show!  :biggrin:
His mom was in the audience, as was his sister. I just spoke to her and she told me yep, it was her and her mom.  :biggrin:

Kind of surreal to hear a comedian talking about his family, and to actually know the people he was talking about! I laughed my ass off!  :biggrin:

Ray Lipowski is his name. You ever get a chance to see him check him out. (He was a BIG baseball guy in high school. To see him up on stage you'd never know it).  :biggrin:

The winter classic game has just got interesting!

Philly scored two goals in about 3 minutes, and now the Rangers just got one as well!  :biggrin:
