I'm glad you have gas under $2.00.  It's still around $2.30 here.

Merry Christmas to you too Bo D!

Since it IS Christmas, I feel I should reply....

January 3rd, 2007, the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress:
The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77 (and the fed wasn't pumping $50 Billion a month into Wall Steet)
The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%
The Unemployment rate was 4.6%
George Bush's Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB CREATION!

And gas was $2.03 in Atlanta Ga....the National Aveage was 2.12.

So it was the dems who caused the mortgage derivative fiasco?

The number of jobs gained is a fraction of the gains made during Bill Clinton's years, and wage gains were been eaten up by inflation.

BUSH NUMBERS - January 2009
Dow closed at 7,949. Gas was 1.84. Unemployment was 7.8%

Another fun fact ...

The economy added more jobs during four years under Obama than it did in the entire eight years under Bush.

Crap paying jobs, I might add......... the median income is on par with where it was in 1995.  Another fun fact is that most of the workers had dropped out of the labor force altogether in the last six years....creating a false unemployment rate number.

OKAY!!!!....I'm going to end my year on a high note.  I am not talking anymore politics until next year.    :spooked:

Merry Christmas!  :)

Judging from your selective and revisionist presentation of facts, I had already assumed that you are high.

You know, not that I am bragging or that I am proud of it, but I have NEVER, EVER smoked POT.

As far as that goes, I have never, ever smoked anything.....it never appealed to me.  Many of my friends in High School did, but I never had the desire to do it.....I don't like to be around smoke in general.

back to your regular scheduled programming....
I haven't ever done any type of drugs. I just never could see the appeal to it. I have a brother who smokes tobacco and that never appealed to me either, even though we raised it growing up!
Merry Christmas all!

Okay, I have a friend who has a daughter who has recently broken up with her boyfriend. The young man is very nice and the family loved him, but she outgrew him. She's fairly driven and he's happy with status quo and worse doesn't understand why she isn't. She doesn't understand why he doesn't have goals or any desire to have some things of his own....career (rather than just a job). A home that isn't oaid for by his parents and his own vehicle. She does care for him and feels bad that he's hurting, but feels like it's what she had to do. Since then she's focused on work and school and isn't dating anyone.

The mom, my friend, is torn. Of course she is loyal to her daughter and supports her and understands her decision. She feels really sorry for the very heartbroken ex boyfriend. He has lots of friends but oddly enough no real support system while he works through this. He's very depressed. He has reached out to my friend a couple times and she has tried to comfort him by explaining that he didn't do anything wrong. That he couldn't have prevented it and he can't change it. Her daughter's feelings changed. Sometimes as people grow up their feelings about things change and unfortunate as it can be, it's normal and not his fault. She's concerned that he's reaching out to her as the one connection to her daughter. He isn't asking her to talk to the daughter. He just wants to talk about how hopeless he feels.

Should she continue to counsel this young man? Or separate herself as well?

Ouch!

This is a sticky one and I'll make an observation (general) up front: The younger generations today are woefully ill-prepared for dealing with relationship issues and other "dramatic", yet normal life events and rights of passage.

I see a number of situations from time to time in which their reactions are akin to knee-jerk ones, and destructive and violent in nature. And that scares the hell out of me.

Honestly, my thoughts are that she needs to get behind her daughter and cut the cord with the boy. The boy has to man up and move on; easier said than done with raging hormones and all that. But the sooner the better.

She doesn't have to be mean about it, but she does have to do it. Otherwise she is just nurturing whatever whack-nut scenarios this boy may have running through his hormone flooded mind, (Unknowingly of course), and in his altered state he could see it 180 degrees from its benign intentions.

Pretty much my thoughts on it as well. My friend has tendency to want to "mother" everyone and I think because she's providing that nurturing connection, he's not fully dealing with reality. She's worried about him and he's hanging on so she's actually enabling him.

Yep. And while it is an admirable quality in the woman, in today's world it is like playing catch with nitroglycerin !  :spooked:
