Watching 2 of my granddaughters seeing snow for the first time in their lives. The look of wonder and amazement is priceless.

They're outside in it with their daddy right now. (His first time seeing snow as well.)

For whatever reason, perhaps something in the universe, George Harrison has been popping into my thoughts for days now. . . I know we just passed the 13th anniversary of his passing, but I don't believe that is it. . .

:fortune: :sultan: :fortune:

For a "quiet man" he certainly amassed a fortune and lived the latter years of his time here digging in the dirt on his estate. . . His musical works in those same latter years were undertaken for more of a hobby activity or for philanthropic purposes; making his "work" more of a pursuit toward happiness and positive Karma rather than an effort to build onto his fortune.

I love all of of those guys, but if I were forced to choose the one I related to the most it would be him. He lifted up those needing it, and fed those who hungered. He clothed those without clothing. He lived outside of the glaring light of fame, except for those times when his stepping into the light served a higher purpose, or served to bring him personal joy.

Those are the things I admire about George Harrison the most; not his wealth, not his fame, but rather his cognizant choices to help others because it was the right thing to do, and because his "brand" enabled him to be the driving force needed to move a universe toward a necessary direction or result. (I could only hope to have achieved this one time in my lifetime, and even that would pale in comparison to any one of his efforts).

His inevitable conflict with the laws of humankind were benign when viewed in the bigger picture, and yet he handled them with professionalism and yes, grace; making them more examples of his humanity than a soul intent upon rebellion. Especially in the reflective view point, for back when these transgressions were in the media some of them were "scandalous" in the historic world view of the times.

Time is the great equalizer, dulling the edge of the razor sharp blade of the current; and healing all things in due time.

13 years later the world continues to be a lesser place for the loss of him. . .

Carry on in peace George Harrison, for I am certain that resting is not something you found attractive in life, and something you will not undertake in that which comes after this physical life.

When I was very young, I always thought Paul McCartney was the coolest........but, when I got older and learned more about George, I agree, HE was by far someone very special.  He was a pioneer in concert fund raising........His Bangladesh Concert is STILL something worth watching...."Give me Love" and "My Sweet Lord" are among my favorite all-time songs.

Though, he kind of lost me during his sitar years........

The sitar thing has grown on me over the years, and I am actually considering purchasing the "Apple Years" collection of his works, which includes bonus tracks of some of his sitar work.

I would say that the sitar is like your Guiness... an acquired taste.
