Today , if I recall correctly, it would be a finish applied to plastering. . . it's mixture of glue and gypsum or some other chalk like substance. They used to coat the walls with it; at times as a finish to real plaster in order to make it appear smooth. . . I think that's why plastered walls always have a thin layer on the top. . . (the part that isn't actually paint.)

Or I could be wrong. . .

Dear Friend Followsthewolf:

It seems like forever since you last graced this place with your wisdom and wit, and I still find myself hoping to see your postings here. And about the time my expectations begin to wane, up you pop from the past with commentary that strangely enough, remains applicable despite the change in seasons your physical being has undergone.

Once again, this day, you are in my thoughts.

Your words and thoughts are apparently timeless, despite the passing of your shelf life; and missing you apparently has no such limitation. . .

May your spirit rest in eternal peace; or whatever facsimile of that phrase the place where you are has. . .  :smitten: :'(
Some believe death is like going to sleep here and waking up 'there.'

My daughter told me she had "the strangest dream." Said she saw her grandmother (my mother) "and she seemed very happy; she had her arms open wide as she said, "Welcome, welcome." Just a few months later, three members of our close family had died. Only one was expected.

Did you ever wonder if when you die you just end up with what you imagined? If you thought there was no afterlife and you were just gone that is what happened, or if you thought you would go to a firey hell then that is where you went or were reunited with loved ones, etc? My mother described walking up a hill toward my Dad and my uncle talked to his brothers and his daughter waiting on him.

I'm telling you; Exterminator is right.   The human race really is fooling Darwin.  We're doomed when people like this are procreating faster than the more intelligent among us.

McALESTER, Okla. — An Oklahoma mother has been charged with child abuse after she allegedly poured gasoline on her daughter's head in an effort to treat head lice, causing the mother and the girl to catch fire.

Court records show that 25-year-old Shana M. Suggs of Hartshorne, Okla., was charged last week week one count of felony child abuse by injury.

The 5-year-old girl had second- and third-degree burns over 60 percent of her body, court records state.

According to a police affidavit, when officers investigated, they found a working space heater in the bathroom near where Suggs allegedly poured the fluid on her daughter's head. Suggs was treated for burns on her forearms, hands and foot, while the young girl was transferred to a burn hospital in Tulsa, the affidavit states.

Suggs's boyfriend, Dylan Webster, told police he was watching television when he heard his girlfriend scream. He said he ran toward the bathroom and found both Suggs and her daughter on fire. He grabbed the young girl and rolled her on the ground, which didn't extinguish the flames, so he "got a jacket off the couch and wrapped her up and the flames went out," the affidavit states.

If convicted, Suggs is facing up to life in prison.

Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

The truth is slow, but relentless. Over time it becomes irresistible.

Ok, I'll play devil's advocate here, the woman should have been smarter than to use gasoline near a space heater for crying out loud, but gasoline or kerosene were commonly used to treat headlice in the 1950's. Don't know why she was doing this unless she didn't have the money to buy the commercial stuff.

I wonder how many 8th graders today could pass this 101 year old exam from a school system in Kentucky.  I know quite a few adults who couldn't pass it.

What I noticed was several spelling/typesetting errors.

Yeah I noticed that too, but I let it slide because of the time period.  ;D
