Store Closings - Anderson

Dunkin Donuts has closed its second Anderson store, and now comes word that Blockbuster and Old Navy are also closing. . .

Blockbusters all over the place are closing because of Netflix and other online video rental places.  When the one by the Mall closed that guy said none of the stores were doing too well because of them and they were going to start concentrating more on their online rentals and weren't sure how long any of the stores would remain open.

The Old Navy chain isn't doing well either, and they are consolidating stores. Since Anderson is not as profitable as Noblesville they are consolidating those two stores. . .

That's a shame about Dunkin' Donuts for those who like them.  I never cared for Old Navy either but I hate to see them go.

The thing that kills me is that the stores sit there empty. I am betting the Old Navy store sits there for a year or more before anything moves into it! Dunkin Donuts on Scatterfield is STILL empty and it has been longer than a year already. . .

  It sorta tickles me, but years ago there was a radio talk guy named Chuck Harder.  When he was asked by one of his listeners if he should invest in tape rentals.  Chuck said No!  He said that the internet would wipe out all tape rentals.  He was sure right.  He was right on some many things.  Like the destruction of pensions by the Super Rich and the Corporations.  Even this came to pass and it's going on right now.

Well, the sad part of all of this is it is all connected to the flight of manufacturing from the shores of this country; something our elected officials at all levels have allowed to happen over the years. It's the same bull crap that went on with auto manufacturing; giving away the farm for short term gains that in the long run will eliminate the viability of the bigger picture. . .

Anderson has seen its population decrease, the tax rolls decrease proportionately, and city revenues doing the same. But instead of tightening its belt and making the hard choices required to live within its means, our current leadership chooses to "fee" the remaining citizens to death, and dig a larger hole into which the whole city is going to plummet unless we change course VERY soon!

Our subdivision now has 6 empty houses within sight of my own home, and instead of folks buying these properties they are building new homes. . . 2 in progress, also within eyesight of my home.

As these businesses continue to leave the city, its attractiveness decreases even as fuel prices soar!

I look for Starbucks to be next, followed by Noble Romans, The UPS store, Deals, Quizno's, and one of those Mattress stores; ALL along Scatterfield Road.

By the time they get "The Field" built, the only places left to eat will be Red Lobster and McDonalds/Burger King/ Wendy's. . .

Lone Star is hanging on by a thread, so . . .

And of Real Hacienda and the New Pablano's, and that third Mexican joint whatever its name is, two of them are going to lose. . . Which one is anyone's guess. . .

That Subway in Applewood is going down too, since they put one in Walmart now. And I hear Jimmy John's is close to opening somewhere on Scatterfield. . . Probably a one year wonder too unless things change. . .

WHAT have you heard?!?....THAT would seriously cause an outroar in this city.....I can say MOST of the Churches that I have ever attended would be outraged to have this guy associated with this city......HE, gives God a bad name.
