I'm splitting my ticket, but that's normally what I always do. I look really hard at the incumbents to see what they've accomplished and how and decide if they're worth voting for again. If not, then I look at the competitors. While they typically don't have the exact job experience to consider, I feel comfortable looking at the experience they do have and background to make a determination. The one superficial thing that I find most impressive is if the candidate hasn't participated in the "slam" campaigns. Although admittedly you might find one or two buried in a local race, they're harder and harder to come by.

I normally end up voting for a cross between democrats, republicans and and a sprinkling from the other parties.

One gripe that I have is that independents and other party candidates are not allowed to participate in the debates. Why not?

I am not sure whether to use the "between a rock and a hard spot" or the "lesser of two evils" method of choosing the candidate to vote for. At the local level I feel party affiliation is meaningless. I refuse to vote for someone I, or someone reliable that I know, went to school with that was a bully. Bullies don't make good representatives of the people.

  I'm voting straight Democrat.  If you vote splitters haven't had enough with 8 years of George W and the party of No,  the Republicans.  And 4 years of our man Mitch and Luger, Pence.  I guess we need a Hoover type depression that they will cause.  After their record, you're going to vote Republican.?  I guess you just can't fix stupid.

  Voting Independent in a 3 person election is just like voting Republican.  It is one vote the Democrat doesn't get.

  If you want more of the same we got from 8 years under George.  It's your vote to lose.

I voted this afternoon at the library, since I am out of town for the forseeable future. It took forever. Long line, mostly blue-hairs, who wanted to visit while they were deliberating. I finally asked them to put a sock in it and vote, so I could get started on my four-hour road-trip. One of them scolded me, saying I needed to discuss my votes, to be sure I wasn't making a mistake. "Yes," chimed in another, "Because I'm sure Obama isn't even a citizen."

"Relax," I told her, shoving past. "He isn't on the ballot."

They were still twittering about it when I left.

  I voted last week in my own house.  I voted straight Republican.    Oh, no I didn't,  I sure am not going to screw myself.  But here in Indiana, the land of nuts and a few fruits, they will take us Republican.

IMO, more people need to vote for candidates other than Republican or Democrat, if enough did it, then we'd send a clearer message that they both need to get to work.

But I finally decided that since the Troll has been so mean to my friend Lolly I will choose a straight republican ticket to nullify his votes. But I could change my mind if the Troll could go a whole week without saying a single mean thing to anyone here.

  Well if you think I am going to lay on my back and let some HR person try to walk all over me Lester, you're wrong.

  But if you are not bright enough to see what George W. and his Republican predatory capitalist loving party has done to this country.  And you want 4 more years of FU*KED up congress, have at it.  I hope you don't have a lot of money in the stock market.  I look for another stock holder chicken plucking again.  They, the super rich still don't think they have all of our money yet.
