Since were discussing the Muslim community center / mosque on another thread, I thought I'd share a blog entry that someone made showing what else is going on there on 'hallowed' ground.

Interesting stuff there.

The Troll

Hallowed ground and Muslim Mosque termoil is caused by the Republican Dirty Trick Team, the Rapture Christian Far Right fruit cakes and the 24 hour news media.

The Republican think that if they can keep the Sheeple minds off of real life, they have a better chance of winning more seats in November.

I wonder what the opposition position is on this? ... after all, this planned mosque is hundreds of miles from New York.

"A plan to build an Islamic community center in the middle-Tennessee town of Murfreesboro sparked an eruption of ugly criticism on Thursday from some residents who don't want a mosque built in their backyard."

what do you mean we got nothing for this one?........big f'ng deal that there are McDonalds there? what is YOUR point?

Why is it so hard to understand that people are very upset that this inman wants to use the very spot where the landing gear landed on the roof of the building that was there.....this inman who says does not believe that hamas is a terrorist oganization....who believes that America is responsible for 9/11...because Bin Ladin was "made" in the USA...he wants America to be Sharia compliant?.....this is nothing more than a political slap in the face of America....he deliberatly picked THIS site, to stir up a controversy....he could have built this a number of other places, but HE chose this one, knowing it was going to upset many, many New Yorkers AND Americans......he will NOT tell anyone where his money is coming from....we have EVERY right to question this motive.

This has nothing to do with religious liberty....if this guy was serious about building a "bridge" for muslims, Christians, Jews, and ALL parties, then he would want to build a place of "interfaith" with a mosque, a Church, a synagogues...but that is NOT in his plans...he is a radical who is purely and simply displaying an anti-american act of tryumphantism....and why a liberal cannot see this is beyond me....so don't get uppity and laugh thinking that the "opposition" has nothing this for this one.............well, THIS guy does, and I will be damned if any body want's to make lite of it, and throw it in my face...........it makes me f'ng sick to my stomach how we are supposed to be tolarant to others, but by God we cannot stand up for what I clearly see as an assault on America...F' this inman, and any radical believin Muslim who thinks American's are responsible for this attack....and we are not getting all excited when they pick the very site of this attack to rub our noses in THEIR radical beliefs.

When you are through hyperventilating, please tell me ... what possible objection can there be to a mosque in Tennessee? I think this story just exposes you people for what you really are.

It is TN.  Maybe for the same reason some people don't want a church built in their neighborhood or a community center or a park. Traffic, noise, or maybe they just don't believe in religion or hate God.

Read the article ...

"We have a duty to investigate anyone under the banner of Islam," Allen Jackson, the pastor of World Outreach Church, said at the meeting."

"We are fighting these people, for crying out loud, we should not be promoting this."

"They seem to be against everything I believe in, and so I don't want them necessarily in my neighborhood," said local resident Stan Whiteway.

Tracey Steven, who also attended, said, "Our country was founded through the founding fathers -- through the true God, the Father and Jesus Christ."

Does that sound like people who "just don't believe in religion or hate God?"

This pretty much says it all: "...and that's a bigoted, cowardly and completely indefensible position."

As are the people spouting their self-righteous indignation about Park 51...same mentality, different location.

You asked what reason anyone could have in building a mosque in their neighborhood, not what the article said. I gave you some reasons I have heard against building any of the things listed.

Yet they say nothing about the 'mosque' at the other ground zero - the Pentagon ....

http://religion-news.info/petula-dvorak-at-pentagon-a-lesson-in-tolerance-that-mosque-critics-should-heed/

This is truly on sacred ground, mind you. Not two blocks away, wedged between the Gap and Sephora in Pentagon City mall, out of sight of the original crash site. This prayer room is a mere 30steps from the place where terrorists crashed American Airlines Flight 77 through the wall and killed Pentagon secretaries and military officers, soccer moms and Little League dads.

In this Pentagon chapel, Muslims can unroll their prayer mats once a day and give praise to Allah. On Fridays, they bring in an imam to conduct a service.

Cue the outrage: "This is an insult to patriotic Americans everywhere, and especially to the families of those who died that day and the good men and women who are risking their lives for their country in the fight against terrorism!"

Oh wait, there was no outrage. No hyperventilating by cable news anchors. No outpouring of hateful rhetoric on blogs and websites.

"We are sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution. And freedom of religion is part of that Constitution," said George Wright, an Army spokesman at the Pentagon. Until this week, when reporters like me flooded him with calls about the proximity of Muslim worship to the site of a terrorist attack, there has been no interest or controversy surrounding it.

The people I spoke with at the Pentagon said they were surprised at the furor over plans to build a mosque and Islamic community center near ground zero in New York.
