As do those of us who refuse to buy into the iPhone hype. Great video!

It's an old video.  My girlfriend has an Epic 4G and Sprint, I have an iPhone 4S and AT&T.  Not sure if it's the operating system or what but I have much better coverage and lots fewer problems than she does.  She now wants an iPhone for Christmas this year.  Same deal with the girl who sits next to me at work...just dumped her Android phone for the i and likes it much better.

I used to have to communicate with a bunch of field technicians with a variety of cell phones and carriers. In my experience, it's the carrier and not the phone that makes the biggest difference. In the DC area, AT&T is horrible. Verizon is best with T Mobile a close second. I have a Nokia Lumia Windows Phone with T Mobile and I absolutely love it!

My experience is different. I had a crack berry for a couple of years, and I had the "Instinct" for a couple of years, and about a half dozen others, and I now have an iPhone 4S. There is zero comparison between the iPhone and the others, and I had all of them with the same carrier. iPhone is head and shoulders above every other phone I have owned for the last 14 years; with the same carrier. Reception, clarity, functionality. . . none of them can hold a candle to the iPhone.

Even in the middle of the Appalachian mountain range, where every other phone I have owned has failed miserably, the iPhone has performed flawlessly. . .

Question.  Why does anyone need all that anyway?  Sure I have a cell phone, a Sony w/tracfone, don't even know the number but it goes with us when we are in the car for emergency use.

Cell phones are a wonderful invention, but talking on them in the car, restaurants, in line at the grocery store, in the waiting rooms for the doctor office, hospital waiting rooms and talking in a very loud voice on it can be the tipping point of killing someone.  Some people don't when to turn them off, like during a funeral service, movie theater.

A lot of these devices are for just showing off.  "OH, LOOK AT MY NEW EXPENSIVE DEVICE.    Give me a break.

Answer: convenience.  I can check the weather, get directions, read the news, pay my insurance bill, access my bank accounts, store all of the bar codes for my shopper's cards, take a picture, look up a restaurant, check my Facebook or my work email, read this forum, etc., etc., etc...the list is endless...all from my phone, anywhere, any time.

Good to know that. That's why we have these discussions.

Yes!

I can be in an unfamiliar place, and because my phone tracks my location, I am one button away from a list of restaurants (with reviews) local shops, and places of interest.

Kind of makes you wonder HOW we made it before those things came around....doesn't it?

Ironically, I rarely use my phone to actually talk to someone else and those conversations are typically short.  Who are all of these people talking to all of the time and what could possibly be that important?

What I love are the people with the ear piece who appear to be talking to themselves, mostly women with a hairdo that hides it.

You know, I rarely use mine for talking, now that you mention it.  I get texts from technicians, and respond with texts most of the time.
