QuoteDr. George Tiller, who was murdered one year ago Monday, rescued countless women who would otherwise have died as a result of medical complications. He saved the lives of girls as young as 9 years old, who were victims of rape and incest, and whose child-sized organs would not have survived childbirth. He saved the lives of women who might otherwise have taken their lives, and in so doing, he saved the lives of babies, including mine.

In the politics of language, "life" is the ultimate power word: persuasive, irrefutable, indomitable. The anti-abortion movement has hijacked it. In their distorted and carefully manipulated use of the word, life refers only to the unborn fetus, never to the lives of women and girls — as much as they try to argue that eliminating this choice will spare a woman emotional and physical turmoil. But the religious right's appropriation of the word is not irreversible. Let's rescue "life" and marry it to "choice," to underscore the life-affirming and life-saving values that are central to the pro-choice movement — the values that Dr. Tiller exemplified, and to which my daughter and I owe our lives.

I enjoyed reading this article because it explains what I've been trying to explain since I began participating in this form;  Pro-choice isn't the same thing as Pro-abortion any more than Pro-life is the same thing as Anti-death.

It is absolutely amazing to me how the asshole Christian are aways wanting to stick their noses and their values in other people's business.

Wanting to take the freedom from a woman to do what she want to do with her body.  I just wish there was some way of transferrig the fetus from her to the Pro-life person.  I wonder how many men and women want to carry these unwanted babies for 9 months and take on raising and educating these kids.  I bet not many.

Also what is amazing is, when the unwanted children hit the ground these Christian asshole disappear with their billfolds.

I have only one thing to say to these asshole Christians, KEEP YOUr DAMN NOSE OUT OF OTHER PEOPLE'S Business.  :trustme:

I admire your attempt to explain this, Sandy. I fear that it is like screaming into a hurricane. It won't be heard.

Just out of curiosity, does your animus extend to Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, atheists and agnostics, or is your ire reserved only for Christians in general? Is it all Christians you take a disliking to, or only those who are hypocrites?

My personal thoughts: Abortion is a valid medical procedure in the same way that lethal injection is a valid medical procedure. Neither should be conducted casually.

I have no problem with any religion or person who mind their own business.  You leave me a lone,  you leave my family alone, the kids alone and the simple minded alone, I have no problem with you.

The people I have a problem with, are people who want to shove their religion, their life style and their thoughts down my throat.  Keep your Bible out of our schools, my government and my life.

But the people who use the Bible, Old Testament, New Testament as the absolute truth and wants everybody to bow and kiss their ring.  Now this I have a real problem with this.

Their like a camel who is constantly trying to stick it's nose under the tent.  They are constantly trying to get prayer in school, teaching intelligent design, trying to take a woman's right to control her own body.  Trying to elect the same stupid thinking people like themselves to get laws passed to put the religious in control.  They never give up, they never shut up and their thinking never changes.

In my opinion The Far Right Wing Religious Zealot's are no different than the Radical Taliban.  The Teabagger Party is full of them and they want to elect more wingnuts.

Does that help with my thoughts.  The Troll  :flag:  :salute:
