Seems to me Bush tried to do something about SS when he was in office and old Barnie Franks and some other Dems argued it was fine and in no danger so don't start blaming it on the right. Trump is trying to bring jobs back and the left is fighting him every step of the way in anything he does.

Only partially correct. You conveniently provide diplomatic immunity to the racist GOP.

The reality is CONGRESS  (all of them) borrowed the funds from SS, and it was paid back.

The reality is jobs are paying less so the revenue stream going into SS/Medicare is shrinking.

The reality is discrimination is rampant in the hiring process as well. Ageism for example. And with the federal bar set so high only a video of the hiring official(s) saying you are too old will meet it.

The reality is that a very large percentage of those that have traditionally bolstered the revenue streams for SS/Medicare, (30-60 year old age bracket), are underemployed, unemployed, or dying due to lack of work or reasonable means of self-sustainment.

All of this being the case, . . . under current projections, the combined Social Security trust funds will continue to run annual surpluses until 2020.  The interest income that the trust funds earn on their bonds, as well as the proceeds the trust funds will receive when their bonds are redeemed, will enable Social Security to keep paying full benefits until 2034.

In 2034, the combined trust funds are projected to run out of Treasury bonds to cash in.  At that point, if nothing else is done, Social Security could still pay three-quarters of its scheduled benefits using its annual tax income.  Contrary to a common misunderstanding, benefits would not stop.  Of course, paying three quarters of promised benefits is not an acceptable way to run the program, and Congress should take action well before 2034 to restore long-term solvency to this vital program.

The only thing the Raging Cheeto is trying to bring back is the 20's & 30's when corporations ruled the lives of their employees, and sold them what they determined they needed at the company stores at exorbitant prices, while they lived in company owned shacks, and worked for poverty level wages while the owners lit imported cigars with 100 dollar bills. Those pre unionization days when you worked the hours they wanted and the days they wanted.

Hell, we're almost half there now.

That's exactly why he's trying to bring higher paying skilled work back to the US.

Blah, blah, blah. . . I haven't seen or heard one damn thing from him or his revolving door cabinet that provides me with the slightest indication that this allegation is any more true than the rest of his propaganda and shenanigans. PT Barnum said it best; "There's a sucker born every minute." And the raging cheeto found a way to get most of them to vote for him. Lying. Oldest trick in the book.

Suckers!

Wrong.

Yes; you are. And its about damned time you admitted to it.

When's the last time you worked a job? A real job? You taken a look at wages in central Indiana lately? Try living on those wages and tell me it isn't true.

People are working harder, and longer hours, and for 33% (average) LESS than they did just 10 years ago.

And if you aren't old enough to claim the senior exemption on your real estate taxes, and aren't eligible for the military reduction on real estate taxes, do you really think you could pay those taxes on your home these days at those wage levels? And a mortgage? And lets not forget a car payment because you're going to need a reliable means of transportation to drive out to Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, or Marion county in order to find a job that pays more than minimum wages today in Central Indiana. Which means 15-30 thousand miles a year on that vehicle annually; just going back and forth to work.  (Because if you don't have reliable transportation odds are you will lose that job due to violation of the attendance policy within 6 months because the vehicle broke down and was in the shop).

You could rent I suppose, but good luck finding a rental within walking distance in those counties. Those that are there are renting for far more than you could earn if you held down two jobs you could walk to. And the same holds true in Madison County; minimum wage capitol of central Indiana.

Illinois is far worse, and they don't have the 1% cap on real estate taxes either. Example: the taxes on the house I live in here, if it were located in Illinois in Chicago or one of its suburbs, would exceed 7,000 dollars a year. And yet they are nearly bankrupt. (Are bankrupt by some definitions).

Strangely enough, Central Indiana is experiencing a housing shortage at this point in time. Normally this would mean a stark jump in property values, but these aren't normal times, and property values are increasing in these parts at less than 15 percent every 18-24 months. (Although you'd be hard pressed to tell by the assessments the local and state entities are using. I'd love to be able to sell both of the homes we own for what the assessed valuations are for tax purposes.)

The fact is, within the next 5-7 years 17-25% of current property owners in Madison county are going to be taxed right out of the homes they own unless something is done about it; and government isn't going to do a damned thing because they need the revenue increases those inflated assessments provide in order to keep up their lifestyles.  And those "new jobs" that Madison County has attracted are paying so poorly most of the hourly workers will earn well beneath federal poverty levels from them each year. (With a large chunk of that take home income going toward medical insurance premiums and property taxes).

Anderson itself likely sees WalMart as an employer of choice at this point in time, but even retail is swirling around the toilet bowl these days; so  once the next wave of retail starts closing up shop then the commute becomes the only option out there.

(By the way, nice try in changing your original reply to my post, but you were too slow. I replied to both).

It has everything to do with your personal world-view; which is blindly supporting the Raging Cheeto.

What office?

If it's congress you are referring to then I will once again remind you of the "party of no" and the do nothing preceding 8 years, and ensuing continuation of same despite having the office of POTUS, and the entirety of congress in their possession.

You guys control it all, so it is on you. Your conservative/GOP factions cannot even agree on one single thing; however they are getting closer to finding common ground in the idiocy of the current presidency and its administration. They hate him too, and for good reason. Even the leadership
of your claimed party of choice is not blinded to his racism and dictatorial aspirations.

The current POTUS can't be bought which is driving them all nuts. Mayby if he has them all to the Rose garden and they talk over a beer like the former did with a couple of people. Na, bad idea 'cause then he would be accused of being an alchohalic.

Nope. That's not it.  Could Trump sink any lower when it comes to setting an example of proper public behavior for the POTUS? I don't think so.
