The whole problem is you just can't see the forest for the trees.  You keep falling for the smoke and mirrors because you, for some strange reason, in awe of people who can talk a good talk and spew percentages and draw graphs and don't bother to actually listen to the way they twist things.  Of course there are times when you may want to question them but then you would appear not to understand and therefore feel you would be called stupid for not just going along blindly.
